As The Rush Comes

Our world was divided. There was light, and there was the dark. Light and dark were not meant to mingle together, for that is when shadows form.

The first time I ever saw him, I was captivated. He was so very different from what I was used to seeing in my everyday life: my life which was filled with endless routine and no surprises. I was close to the outskirts of where my world, meets his, where light and dark clash against each other. Was I supposed to be there? No, I wasn't, but I needed something new, something different to happen to me, just this once. I was becoming more and more bored as the days went on. Was I being selfish for thinking this way? Yes, but at that moment I did not care, for that is when my eyes landed on him.

There was a group of them, "dark beings" as my people called them. Out of the group of five, he was the one who stood out to me. He was a small distance away from me, but even then, I could make out what he looked like. He was the exact definition of darkness. He had shoulder length hair that almost looked like the finest black silk. Pools of onyx that served as his eyes seemed almost endless when in contrast to his pale skin. As I looked at him, I couldn't help but notice how utterly different he was to me. I was the perfect definition of light. With my pink, wavy hair that reached my waist, while my eyes glistened emerald green in the sun, my skin a nice light tan. "What am I thinking?" I whisper to myself. What did I expect to happen when I came here? As my mind filled with doubt and negative thoughts, I looked back towards the man that caught my attention. That's when it seemed like time its self stopped. Onyx eyes were locked onto me. And they seemed to be getting closer and closer.
