Happy's First Date
Happy played with the blue ball he found in the yard of the Fairy Tail guild hall in silence. He was feeling particularly sad today, and wasn't in the mood to deal with the chaos that was his nakama. Happy just wanted to be away from all that, and absentmindedly rolled the ball back and forth in his paws, lost in his thoughts.
"Hey there, Happy," a voice called from the entrance to the yard. Happy looked up to see the youngest Strauss sister smiling at him.
"Oh, hi, Lisanna," Happy replied in a downtrodden voice.
"What are you doing out here all alone? You're usually inside with Natsu at this point."
Happy sighed, "I decided to come to the guild early to see if Carla would go fishing with me so we could eat the fish for lunch together… but she was already on her way to have lunch with the Exeeds from Sabertooth."
Happy rolled the blue ball away from himself. Lisanna caught it with her foot, sat down, and rolled in back to him.
"I wouldn't worry about it too much," Lisanna attempted to comfort Happy, "I'm sure she can join you for fishing another time."
Happy rolled the ball back to Lisanna, "Yeah, but it wasn't just a fishing trip. I finally got the courage to ask Carla out on a date. I had it all planned out and everything."
"Oh yeah?" Lisanna grinned, "Tell me about it."
Happy blushed and turned away, "It's embarrassing..."
"I promise to to laugh to make fun of you. I really want to hear about what you had planned."
"Well..." Happy hesitated. "First I was going to meet Carla at the guidhall so I could ask Carla to go fishing with me, but I would have her meet me our usual fishing spot. I wanted to pick up some flowers along the way so I could greet her with them."
"Aw, Happy. That's so sweet of you." Lisanna commented.
"I was also panning on bringing some fresh fruit, cheese, juice, and a blanket so we could have a picnic with what we caught!"
Lisanna rolled the ball back to Happy, "You really had everything planned out. It would've been a really nice date."
Happy caught the ball and rolled it back, "I thought so too! But now she's with the cats from Sabertooth and Lector is probably putting his sweet moves on Carla!"
"I doubt that. Carla is just enjoying lunch with some friends from another guild. Even if Lector is flirting with her, it's pretty clear no one can compare to you, Happy."
"You really think so?"
Lisanna caught the ball as Happy rolled it back to her, "Don't sell yourself so short. You're fiercely loyal, you do everything you can to protect your nakama, and you're handsome to boot!And there's one thing you're forgetting, Happy." She rolled the ball back to him
Yeah, what's that?"
Lisanna gave Happy a big smile, "You make everyone around you laugh and feel joy. You're Fairy Tail's blue bird of happiness!"
Happy teared up and tossed the ball away, running to Lisanna, "Lisanna!" Happy hugged her, "Thank you so much. I really needed to hear that. You're such a great friend."
"Of course!," Lisanna patted his head, "So are you still going to ask her out?'
"Yeah, I'll do it tomorrow!" Happy said with determination."
"I'm glad to hear! I'll help you plan it out so it.s even better and Carla has the best time!"
"Are you sure? You don't have to do that."
:I know. I just want to make sure it goes well for you. You deserve happiness of your own after all."
"Thank you so much Lisanna, for everything." Happy stood and made to fly towards the guildhall, "Let's get planning!"
"I'm right behind you!"
Lisanna and Happy went into the guild to plan the date, leaving the blue ball behind them in the yard.
