A bit of a homage. Drabble.

A Biting Silence
Hiiragi Hitonari is quiet, and maybe that's why Tachibana Akane likes him so much.

Every speech is a tactical move, something thought about for a long time before hand and contemplated afterwards.

He thinks that it is no wonder that Hitonari turned out like this. He can imagine quite easily his father saying "If you don't have anything intelligent to add, don't say anything at all!"

And with the humility of a child, Hitonari would have assumed that everything he had to say was not nessisary nor intelligent enough to be said.

He liked encouraging Hitonari to speak, because quite often he did have something intelligent to say, but he almost regretted it. Perhaps if Hitonari spoke too much, the magical quality of his words would reciede.

And as much as he loved the words of wisdom that occasionally spouted from Hitonari's mouth, he loved it even more, and more regularly, when it was silent. They could stand, or sit, or lie in silence, and after a long, long time, when Akane was threatening to fall asleep, Hitonari would lean over and breathe a quiet kiss on his mouth.

Those butterfly kisses were worth all the words in the world for him, because he knew that he was the only one who got them. Hitonari could say a thousand words, but a thousand ears could hear them. These, these were just for him.

He could cup that beautiful face and mumble all the stupid words into his mouth, and all he would get was That Look, a brisk "shut up", and he would be on his back - a pleasant position, he found.

Untill Hiiragi Hitonari came into his life, there was never a silence, not in Tachibana Akane's head, not in his life. But this, this was calm like nothing else. A raging calm. A furious calm. Something that could chew him up and spit him out without so much as breaking a sweat.

And that, that was definitely why he loved Hiragii Hitonari so much.

And the fog made everything grey.
