For some reason, Rune didn't act like herself and Kowalski was worried. One moment she was cheery, and the next, sad, and then she was grump towards Chip which never happened before. Finally, Kowalski convinced Skipper to hold a zoo meeting

"Something's wrong with Rune," Kowalski said bluntly, "And I can't help but be worried. I've tried to determine the current situation, but I don't think any of them are right."

Marlene thought for a moment. "Now that you mention it, Rune has been acting strange." She suddenly laughed. "Sorta like me when I was pregnant."

Everyone stared at Marlene and her laughing died down.

"Rune can't be pregnant!" Kowalski shouted in high pitched voice, "I-It's not possible!" He began to really freak out. "I'm not good with kids! It's a merical that I was able to raise Chip okay!"

Skipper sighed. He went to Kowalski and put a flipper on his shoulder. "First off, you haven't even asked Rune if she is or not. Second, you and Rune practically helped raise each of the kids here and thirdly, yes Chip can be… Chip… but the boy has a good hart and he can be a great leader someday."

Kowalski clamed. "You're right… Thanks."

Later, Kowalski walked up to Rune who was in their lemuin habitat.

"Ah, Rune, sweetie?" he called.

Rune, who had been kicking her feet in the little pond they had looked up at him. "Yeah?"

"Are… you pregnant?"

Rune was silent for a bit. "Why would you ask that?"

"Marlene said you were acting like her when she was pergnant. So... Are you?"

"I-I don't know. Am I?"

"How should I know?"

"It's your sperm!"

"But it's growing inside you!"

Rune paused and looked at her stomach. She flattened the puffy fur and saw she did have a bump. "i'm pregnant," she whispered. Her eyes glowed with excitement. "Kowalski, I'm pregnant!" She wrapped her arms around her husband's neck and hugged him tight.

Kowalski slowly smiled. When Rune was excited, he was too.

"What's going on?" asked Chip as he walked up to his parents.

Rune turned to him. "Chip... You're gonna have a lil brother or sister!"

Chip's eyes sparkled (not in the gay vampire way, but in the cute, happy way) as a wide smile spreaded across his face. "Wow, Mama! Really? I'll ve teh best big brother ever! Won't I, Dad?"

Kowalski laughed. "Chip, I don't have a doubt in my mind."

Months later, Rune gave birth to a beautiful baby "lemuin" that she named Veronica. Veronica had her mother's eyes and long legs. Instead of normal grey down feathers, Veronica had brown ones.

True to his word, Chip quickly started to do whatever he could for Veronica. When she got a bit older, Chip would play with her and even take her along when he played with teh others, much to their annoyance (cause what preteen would want to babysit?).

When Veronica showed intrest in tecnology and hacking and openly admitted she despized fighting, Chip took it upon himself to he ber protector. He'd never let her get hurt. Not ever!
