RWBY does not belong to me, but to Rooster Teeth. This work of fiction is non-profitable.
I'm not dead.
So I started watching RWBY yesterday, bored as I was. I still don't understand the hype behind it, but I guess I'll have to find out by watching past episode 3.
Anyway, here's some short fluff that I decided to write.
Black Rose
It had all started with that innocent question. At least, she thought so. She wasn't sure. Surely that one question must've been what triggered it all. It wasn't perhaps the question itself but what followed after; a short-lived, curt, and pleasant conversation sparked by a discovery of a semi-mutual interest.
"What's it about?"
The question prompted her to look up at silver-grey eyes with a puzzled, "Huh?"
"Your book," the redhead clarified. "Does it have a name?"
…
Yes, that had to be it. But it was perchance a bit too early to say for sure.
Still, she'd humour the other girl with an explanation. "Well…It's about a man with two souls, each fighting for control over his body."
"Oh yeah…That's…real lovely…" the blonde – the older girl of the two before her – remarked, clearly not into it. Well too bad, her response was not meant for the blonde. At least the redhead, the inquirer, appeared interested.
"I love books." She perked up at this. She hadn't expected the younger girl to share her interests. "Yang used to read me every night before bed…Stories of heroes, monsters…" The girl smiled. "They're one of the reasons I want to become a huntress."
Hm. Odd. Quite peculiar, actually.
Interesting nonetheless, however; this young girl had big ambitions. It was admirable to say the least, even if she couldn't help but think…
"Why's that? Hoping to live happily ever after?"
"I'm hoping we all will," the redhead replied. She was smiling and it made her look…cute. It was adorable, a thought that was quickly put away for later, but the girl had her attention still. "As a girl I wanted to be just like those heroes in the books; someone who fought for what was right and who protected people who couldn't protect themselves."
Big ambitions indeed. Perhaps it had been worth to take a moment of her time and talk to the redhead – Ruby, was it? – And, perchance, befriend her. They had a common ground in books, for starters.
"That's…very ambitious, for a child. Unfortunately, the real world isn't the same as a fairy-tale."
She hadn't said it to be mean or crush the redhead's dream, far from it. But it was for the best that such a innocent girl like her knew right away that they weren't heroes destined to fight evil and emerge victorious and alive with a happy ever after ending. She implied, without harsh words or graphic remarks, that they could easily die whenever, losing to the Grimm.
Such a sweet girl needed to know. That's what she thought.
"Well…" the redhead began. Her smile, while sorrowful, didn't falter. "That's why we're here; to make it better."
The blonde embraced the younger girl, stating something about how proud she was of her or whatnot, and the two immediately got into a rather comical fight with each other. As annoying as it was, it was simultaneously adorable.
This Ruby-girl was rather cute.
The raven-haired beauty chuckled to herself, attention shifting back to her book. Perhaps the next time they had time off, they could discuss books some more.
She'd like that.
