A/N: I wrote this story months ago and never did anything with it, intending to make it longer. That never happened so I'm posting it now. Its short and sweet and fluffy. Enjoy!
"If I asked you to give up your grace, would you?" Dean asked. They had been quietly reading up on their current case, which involved goat sacrifices and demigods. Castiel looked up from the book he had been examining-bewilderment written across his face.
"Why would you want me to give up my grace?" Cas asked, his head cocked sideways as he regarded Dean.
"For me, to be human, have a normal life. You know, all that bullshit," Dean said. He was quickly regretting having asked the question.
"No, Dean, I don't know what all that 'bullshit' is."
The two men locked eyes and for a moment Dean thought about telling Cas to forget about it, that it was just a stupid question. Something in the way that Cas was watching him made him continue on with the question.
"I'd give up hunting, you'd give up being an angel and we could just live a normal life. Together."
"Together? Dean we're together now, we see each other frequently, isn't that enough?"
Dean stood up and walked around the table so he was standing in front of Cas. He took a step towards the Angel, who backed up into the bookcase. Dean closed the gap between them, his hands on Cas' hips, their bodies pressed flush together.
"Would you give up your grace if I asked you to?" Dean whispered into Cas' ear.
"Dean-"
Dean cut him off with a kiss. It was a chaste kiss but it conveyed what Dean was trying, and failing, to explain with words.
"Usually I get a better response than that," Dean said. He chuckled nervously and backed away from Cas.
He had almost made it out of the room when Cas finally answered. "Yes."
Dean turned around and strode back to Cas, maintaining eye contact as he moved. When he was right in front of the Angel he reach out and put his hand on Cas' hip and then leaned in and kissed him again, only this time he lingered longer. Cas wrapped his arms around Dean and deepened the kiss. Their chests were pressed together and by they time they broke apart they were panting.
"So...did you guys get a lot done while I was gone?" Sam asked from the doorway. He was back with the pie and beer Dean had requested, along with what looked like ingredients for a mildly healthy dinner. Under normal circumstances Dean might have complanined.
"We, umm...we're discussing…" Dean trailed off lamely.
"Me giving up my grace and living a normal life, together." Cas supplied. He was smiling and Dean felt endeared by his awkwardness.
"Well, not this very moment. Just...someday," Dean said. He met Sam's eyes and held his gaze until Sam gave a stiff nod.
"I'm going to go make dinner, try and stay out of trouble," Sam said with a smirk as he left them alone again.
"What kind of trouble can we get into in a locked bunker?" Cas asked.
"I'll show you later," Dean said with a laugh. They both went back to their research feeling lighter and more hopeful than before.
The End
A/N: Hope you liked it, until next time!
