Embracing the Darkness
Elena glanced over the face of the sleeping Stefan beside her. A soft smile touched her lips as she glanced over his angelic face. Her gaze fell on his finely sculpted lips, she would miss those lips. Yes she would, she would miss the way those lips traveled over her skin, drawing attention to places she never knew could feel so good.
Sliding smoothly out of the bed she placed the slip of white paper. A single tear rolled down her face and onto the paper staining its purity. Turning she walked to the open window. Standing in the billowing white drapes she glanced one last time over her shoulder at Stefan and jumped out the window.
Once in the streets of Italy Elena walked through the streets to the airport ignoring the glances of the folk milling around her. Slipping into a side alley she made her way in the direction she knew the airport to be.
"Hey pretty lady." A tall unshaven man wearing a too big black trench coat stepped in front of her sliding his arm over her shoulder and gripping her neck roughly with his hand. "Now we can do this fast, or we can do this so I have some fun." He used his other hand that was around her neck to begin unzipping his pants.
Elena narrowed her eyes, feeling her eye teeth lengthening. "You haven't the slightest clue what you are dealing with do you?"
"Now don't be making threats girl." The man snarled through clenched teeth moving his hand to his back pocket pulling out a knife.
Faster than he could blink Elena had slid out of his grip and snatched the small knife from his hand and was holding it at his throat.
"Whatcha gunna do girl?" The man's voice was shaky but he added a layer of sarcasm to attempt to hid his unease. "Slit my throat?"
Elena furrowed her brow as if she were contemplating what to do. Glancing at the man's neck she smirked cruelly making the man shiver up and down his spine. "No, why would I just slit your throat with some flimsy knife," she tossed the knife to the side of the alley. "When I can make this much more enjoyable that." Elena barred her teeth. "For me I mean not you." Elena struck before the man could make a sound. Her teeth tearing at his throat, her tongue lapping up every last bit of blood that came out of his wound. Dropping his bloodless body to the ground Elena gave him an emotionless look. Speaking, almost as if to reassure herself she took in a shallow breath and spoke to the corpse.
"I kill the killers, I kill those who want to kill others. Damon was right I am a huntress, its time I stopped pretending I'm not." Backing into shadow Elena moved on silent feet to where her would be assailant's friends were hanging out. She came upon the group of men while there were mutilating a young girl's body. Feeling no remorse Elena set upon the group sinking her fangs into their mouth, tasting their blood, letting their crumpled bodies fall to the dank dirty street when she was done. Bending down Elena pulled out each of the men's wallets and took out the cash paying little attention to anything of the wallet's other contents. Slipping the wad of cash into her pocket Elena hailed a cab to the airport.
