Disclaimer: I, SuperNerdMDizzle, own nothing in this story. NOTHING. Well, except for the idea of this story in particualr, but DEFINITELY not Harry Potter. Harry Potter rights go to the almighty J.K. Rowling. Thanks for reading.

Harry Potter would occasionally have the Gryffindor Common Room to himself. During these times, he would think to himself about all the "what IF"s of his life- what IF he hadn't been "the boy who lived"? What IF Voldemort had never come about to being what he is? And, most importantly…what IF his parents had lived? Would life really be that much better…?

Well, today was one of those days-when he had the common room to himself, when he had his thoughts to himself… And he didn't notice as his thoughts swept him away.

Lily and James Potter had a son: Harry Potter, age fourteen, Fourth Year at Hogwarts. They were a fairly normal family, too. A beautiful wife, a handsome husband, and a growing son who wore glasses, had green eyes, and black hair. He was nothing special at school- his grades were average, he didn't have TOO many friends, and the ones he did have were pretty ordinary, as well. If he heard someone ask about the people Hermione Granger and Ron Weasley, he would have simply given a blank stare and asked, "Who?". Well, he may have heard their names once or twice but he didn't know them PERSONALLY- Hermione Granger, perhaps the most intelligent mind in all of Hogwarts, and Ron Weasley, brother of the notorious Weasley twin tricksters…that was all he knew.

Lily and James Potter had a son: Harry Potter, age seventeen, Seventh Year at Hogwarts. Nothing special. He hadn't won any awards or gotten outstanding grades: he was average, maybe even slightly below average, at worst. He didn't get any points for Gryffindor: he kept to himself. He didn't have anymore friends: they had all gotten in trouble with the law or moved away. He was NOTHING like two of the most well-known people in his year: Hermione Granger, most intelligent, and Ron Weasley, most intelligent person's boyfriend. He wondered if he would ever make himself known to the world: maybe if he had tried harder in school, maybe if he had cooler looks, maybe if he had done something extraordinary…he would have his moment. His fame. Just a little bit of the spotlight. And yet…he hadn't tried harder in school, he didn't have cooler looks, and he had definitely not done anything extraordinary. No.

He was like everyone else. He was…average.

And worst of all…Harry Potter was alone.

"…arry. Harry? Harry! HARRY!" Harry Potter was brought back to Earth by the shouts of his friend, Hermione Granger.

"Finally! Bloody hell, Harry, you might as well have been a zombie just now!" His other friend Ron Weasley said with just a bit of exaggerated exasperation.

"Are you alright?" Hermione said with evident concern. "You were staring into space with a really STRANGE expression on your face."

It took Harry a little bit to completely snap out of his daze. He finally gave an answer, complete with a smile.

"Yeah…I'm fine. And I wouldn't have my life any other way than how it is right now."

Slightly confused, Ron and Hermione both gave him crooked smiles and said, "Huh?"

"It's okay. All that matters…is that I wouldn't have my life any other way."

And it was true. What IF Harry Potter's parents hadn't been murdered? What IF Voldemort hadn't come about to being what he is today? And, most importantly…

What IF Harry Potter hadn't met his two best friends in the world?
