Title: Not All That's Gold
Disclaimer: I don't own JoA. If I did it would still be on the air. I also don't own Allie. If I did she'd live in New York.
Summary: For Adam Rove it was always going to be Joan in the end.
Notes: Allie (Moonlit-Jeannie) requested a fic where Bonnie and Iris meet, then gave me the okay-go to post it here. I think it came out pretty well. I also think Allie accidently spawned a new crack!OTP for me, sick as it is. Oh, and the slight lesbian undertones were more me, not Allie. I'd apologize, but I'm not sorry.
You're feeling like an idiot right now, sitting on the front steps of Arcadia High School tracing the cracks on the cement steps. What did you expect though? You knew going into this fling that for Adam Rove it was always going to be Joan in the end. You had no problem with the casual sex, you were one of those girls that didn't get why it was such a big deal to everyone. You just wanted to tell Adam that he should go to the doctors, just in case, then go on your way and run Ryan Davis over with your car for giving you chlamydia. You actually did care about Adam, you figured he had the right to know.
At least you weren't pregnant, right?
"Are you okay?" a very high pitched voice asked from behind you. Like nails on a chalkboard, you cringed.
"No," you told the person bluntly. The girl sat down on the step next to you and for the first time in hours you looked up. She was pretty in a conventional sort of way. Clean. Kick ass outfit. She looked artsy, whatever the fuck that meant when people said it.
"Do you want to talk about it?" she offered. Well, she was nice too.
"Not really," you told her. A beat. "You know Adam Rove?" The girl flinched at the mention of his name, her eyes growing a little darker. You took that as a yes.
"I do," she said.
"He's a bastard," you reply, taking note of the small smile the girl let slip past her lips.
"Joan?" the girl asked you. Somehow she understood.
"Joan," you say bitterly. "It's always Joan freaking Girardi. She doesn't even get him. She's so self-absorbed." The girl nodded along with what you were saying.
"I used to date him too. He dumped me because of Joan," she told you.
"He cheated on her with me. They'll probably be broken up by tomorrow. I also might have given him chlamydia," you told her. The girl laughed. High pitched laugh. Your ears stung a little.
"Sweet," she said. She stood up and offered you her hand, pulling you up with her. "I'm Iris."
Iris. Pretty name, pretty girl.
"Bonnie," you say. She smiles at you again.
"You want to get some coffee?" You shrug.
"Sure."
