So I just watched Interstellar for the first time and wow, I'm in love. The second it finished I just wanted to put it on again, but it's late so I decided to write fanfiction instead. I'm definitely starting small with this fandom, but more may be in order in the future. Anyway, enjoy.
"Do not go gentle into that good night..."
Amelia repeated the poem for herself and CASE. She recorded messages of her progress so far since landing. Some messages came to her, but they were few and far between. At first they were by Murph, and when she stopped, the messages became fewer. The one thing that Amelia held onto was Murph's last video message.
She was much older, but she sat in front of the camera with a soft smile."So much time has passed for us here, and not all that much for you, yet I know it must be lonely. I have to believe you're alive, because he is. I'll see him soon. He came back to me just like he said he would, so I'm going to send him back to you. He was my ghost, I've had him with me this whole time. I know you'll need him more."
Tgese messages came through in a short space at time, and Amelia knew that if Murphy was right then Cooper wouldn't be too far away. She stood up from Edmund's grave and called for CASE, together they made their way over to the camp. There was enough power to help the first few samples to grow, and if that succeeded the rest should be easy.
The sound of engines caught Amelia's attention. She instructed CASE to close up the samples as she ran outside to see who had arrived. She approached the ship with was easy to see that it was a NASA established ship, but after the events of Mann's planet that didn't mean this ship could be trusted.
The hatch opened up and for a moment Amelia stood there in partial shock. It was only when CASE reached her that she stepped forward to meet Cooper and TARS. All of them stood in silence for a moment, only the sound of Cooper removing his helmet could be heard.
"TARS, what's your honesty setting?"Amelia asked, although her eyes stayed focused on Cooper.
"95 percent."
"Is what Murph said true? Are they really safe? Are they coming?"
"They're hoping to get here, but yes, it's all true."
"How did you do it?" Amelia asked, this time her question directed to Cooper.
"Somebody once told me that love is the one thing that we're capable of perceiving that transcends dimensions or time and space. Well, she was right."
For the first time Amelia smiled. She motioned to the camp behind her. "Come on."
"It's good to see you, CASE," Cooper said as they walked.
"As you," CASE responded. "And my honesty settings are also quite high."
As Amelia laughed a little, TARS moved beside her. "I said I wouldn't leave you behind, Dr Brand."
"And I didn't doubt you for a second."
