~In the distant future~
Host: Congressman Seaborn, it's a pleasure to have you here.
Sam: Thank you Cathy.
Host: Senator Robertson – the presumptive nominee for the Republican Party has made an unusual choice for his Vice Presidential running mate - your wife, Governor Ainsley Hayes-Seaborn. This has certainly sent some waves through the political world. Tell us about your wife's reaction to the news.
Sam: Well Ainsely was shocked of course. Our bipartisan marriage, as we like to call it, has been an issue with both of our parties, and Senator Robertson's nomination was an honor and a surprise.
Host: You yourself have been an active member of the opposition party for years, how does this affect your support of your wife? And do you see a conflict of interest?
Sam: I support Ainsley 100% personally, but as a Democrat, I would prefer that she change her stance on a number of issues. Our marriage is not going to fail because of different ideologies; our debates make us think – unearth the reasons and logic behind our positions. When we first met, she reversed my position on small business fraud protection through well-reasoned argument. This discourse is one of our greatest strengths.
Host: How did you meet?
Sam: Oh God. If you role the tape I may walk off. We met on Capitol Beat, a cable television political show, discussing an educational bill, and she pretty much wiped the floor with me. President Bartlet was impressed – he likes smart people who disagree with him, and the administration offered her a job in the counsel's office…
