The Marauders were sitting in their dorm, passing around a bottle of Firewhisky. They had just been at the Feast that had ended their sixth year at Hogwarts. Packed and ready they thought they would just drink the last bottle before they went to sleep.
"Have you guys ever wondered what will happen to us?" Sirius asked, passing the bottle to James.
"Of course, I mean, how will we die? For example." James answered before passing the bottle to Remus.
"How can you think about things like that?" Remus asked, the only sober one of the group. Someone had to wake them up in the morning too.
"Easy," Sirius said. "I think Prongs will die first, probably for som noble reason like trying to save Evans from Voldy."
"Sure," James answered. "And I think Padfoot will be second to die, he'll get killed by one of his lovely relatives. After he broke out of Azkaban, of course."
"You think I'll be thrown into Azkaban? What for?"
"Dunno, probably for something you didn't even do." James shrugged, taking another swig of the Firewhisky.
"Probably," Sirius agreed. "But I'd rather die right now than be killed by one of my relatives."
"I think Wormtail will commit suicide." Remus suddenly piped up. "He'll be too depressed when you two are gone. So that makes him the third."
"Just because you want to be the last one." Peter squeaked.
"No, I think it makes sense," Sirius mused. "Remus is almost indestructible, the lucky man."
"Only because we always save him," James grinned. "But I also think Remus will be the last Marauder."
"He'll probably get killed by a Death Eater. When we're not there to save his sorry arse." Sirius grinned too, almost identical to James.
"But he'll leave a kid," Peter added. "That will continue the Maraudering."
"Nah, I don't think Remus' kid will be a Marauder, Moony's far too nice. I think Prongs kid will be the one to continue the Maraudering."
"Since when am I going to have a kid, Padfoot?"
"Since you fell in love with Evans. You'll get married and have a son." Sirius answered, like it was obvious.
At this James grinned even wider. "Sure. Now when all this is settled, shouldn't we go to bed? Because the bottle is empty," he said, swinging the empty bottle in front of Sirius.
The four Marauders went to bed, and didn't think more about their fates.
***
We were young at the time, we didn't really think that was going to happen. We were the Marauders, we were strong, fast and smart. We didn't think our silly predictions would become real. But they did.
James died almost seventeen years ago. The first of us to die. He tried to save Lily and his son, Harry, from Voldemort. He didn't succeed. But Harry lived, for reasons no one really know. And he caused enough trouble at Hogwarts to be considered a Marauder, even if he didn't mean to do most of it.
Sirius died two years ago. The second to die. He was killed by Bellatrix, the one of his relatives that he hated the most. But not before he broke out of Azkaban. He was in there for twelve years, for something Peter did.
Peter died only two days ago. The third to die. He was killed by his own hand, after trying to kill Harry but then considering not to.. The little rat, the little traitor. He deserved it.
And I, Remus Lupin, Moony, am the last Marauder. I can get killed any day now, and I probably will. Leaving a son behind me, but he's far more even-tempered than Harry already. I've got friends, friends that will try to help me. But I'll probably die soon because the only ones that really knows me, that really know what to do, James, Sirius and even Peter, isn't here to save me.
