Dexter has never felt fear like he felt on the night Miguel catches him loading his boat full of his latest victim's body parts. He also has never been so relieved then when Miguel helps him dispose of the body.
I was carrying the last parts of the body to my boat when I saw him. I felt the blood in my veins turn to ice. I had never been so struck with fear. How long had he been standing there? He was walking towards me now. I put the bags in the boat and waited. I could have just driven away on my boat, but what would the point be in that? "Dexter." Miguel says once he is standing in front me. "Miguel" I say back. I could lie my way out of this, but I had no idea how long he had been watching me. "I've been watching you." Well obviously, but for how long? I couldn't find my voice so I just stood there. Eventually he just walks past me and gets on my boat. The ice in my veins only grew colder as he lifted up a bag. Was I going to have to kill him? What was he doing? "This feels like a leg." He says, and that was when I saw his smile. "Come on" he calls "I'll help you." I was speechless so I just got on the boat. We drove in silence, but the whole time I kept thinking of ways to take Miguel out. I didn't trust him at all and I had no reason to.
I took us to a different dumping sight then I normally did. At the least if this was a trick then only one body would be found and not my collection of parts. "Is this the place?" He asks. I nod and he starts throwing bags over the edge. It was all so surreal. I stayed where I was until the pieces were all gone. "What are you doing?" I finally ask. He turns and is silent for a moment "I'm helping you Dexter. Truth is I've watched you do this about 3 times since I met you." I swallowed hard but stayed silent "I wanted to know what it was like to be a part of this." He said. He wasn't looking at me now; he had turned to look at the water. "A part of being a monster?" I ask.
It looked like my voice was returning. "If you call it that… yes." We were still sitting still in the ocean, so when Miguel started asking me questions about who I was I actually told him everything. It was odd to reveal myself to someone and not kill them seconds later. I did make sure to give him a death threat though. He laughed it off, but the closer we got to shore the closer I got to my real answer. There was no one waiting there for me, so I allowed myself to trust Miguel just a bit. That night was just the start of many together.
