Description: True to the title, this is a drabble (100 words, no more, no less) centered around a certain dynamic in Gilbert and Matthew's relationship (platonic, romantic, whatever) that I always found kind of interesting :0
Gilbert was in the middle of retelling, in vivid detail, how he'd filled more charity boxes than anyone else and carried them up all 12 flights of stairs, when Matthew looked like he'd forgotten something and ran back inside the apartment building.
"What's wrong?" Gilbert asked as soon as he came back.
"Nothing," he replied.
It didn't take much pushing to get the truth.
"A woman was worried her box of food wouldn't come. I went back to make sure it did."
"You do so much thankless work," Gilbert said.
"Maybe, but I think that's what makes it truly selfless."
A kind of challenge to myself to see if I could actually convey what I wanted in a hundred words. I went to community service this morning so that's what inspired this, if anyone was wondering X)
An update on where I'm at with other stories: I've been writing a lot lately! Another chapter of Gingerbread House, a GerItaPan oneshot, and two SwissAus oneshots (one angst and sadness, one gay medieval teenagers). All of those I'm hoping to get up within the next two weeks or so. Beyond that, I have a lot of other ideas, but some I want to prewrite so...someday ¯\_(ツ)_/¯.
If you want to comment on this, I love reviews! They really do make me write more often. Otherwise, have a look at some of my other writing! I always appreciate feedback. :)
