I really tried to make it seem in-character, since the writers can't seem to do it.

I don't own Degrassi

Hope you enjoy! :)

"So this is why you broke up with me?" Eli said emotionless, motioninng towards the other boy. "For him?" His voice discolored with forcefullness.

"Okay," Drew cleared his throat and got up, showing discomfort. "I should go..."

Clare was rooted to the spot, exchanging unspoken words through looks with the guy she knew inside out, while Drew hurried past him.

"Since when are you in love with him?" Eli wanted to know with a stoney mask to hide his pain with.

"I'm not." She clarified faintly but sncerely.

"Then why are you doing this?" His mask cracked, when his voice did and his face condoned into a frown. But it wasn't there in the first place anyway. Clare could read him like an open book.

"Because he's there! Because he makes me feel better!" She answered, getting louder.

Eli's eyes both narrowed in confusion and disbelief. "Clare, there's no way for me to skip college everytime something at Degrassi is coming up - you know that." He told her softly yet plainly, looking her deep in the eyes. "But if you need me home I will always be there in the blink of an eye," Clare blinked back at him, taking everything in.

"And... help me here, 'cause I don't understand; Just because he happens to be the one at Degrassi and not in NYU you're ending this? We had plans. Soon you'll be off to college too. This was our futue together that we were building..." He trailed off, looking down and breaking eye contact.

Clare looked back at him, making him look back. "Ever since that kiss with Lenore everything seems so different... You seem different. We seem different." Clare told him gloomily.

Eli sighed, nodding merely. "I know I made a big mistake and I was burned - I've learned my lesson. I never meant to cause you any pain, Clare. I won't ever forgive myself for this. But there's nothing I wouldn't do to make it all better and to make this work."

There were tears pooling in Clare's eyes. "I still love you, Eli." She admitted.

His heart seemed to fall to his guts. "I love you too." He told her.

"And yet I feel like giving up..." Clare continued, the tears falling freely from her eyes.

"Why?" He asked, knitting his eyebrows mawkishly together, fighting back tears.

"Feeling us drifting apart hurts so much. I just need to let go before it hurts even more." Clare replied, letting out a shaky breath.

"We're not." Eli said. "Not if you don't want to..."

Clare let out a sob, shaking her head, while stepping closer and throwing her arms around his neck, embracing him tightly. He put his arms around her too. "I love you." He whispered, silently enough for no one to hear, before closing his eyes and holding her tightly.
