"You trusted me and I failed you" Robin said with guilt in his eyes. He kept thinking that the one time someone trusted him with something so valuable , he lost it. He wouldn't forgive himself for that. And neither would the Evil Queen.
"It wasn't your fault. You had no choice , he would have killed your son ... I would have done the same for Henry" Regina said without thinking. But it was the truth. She had tried to sound forgiving but disappointed and angry the same time but her voice gave up the sympathy she was feeling for what he and his son went through to protect something of hers.
Robin was really surprised by her reaction and spoke with doubt.
"Yeah but ..." he started explaining when Regina shook her head to silence him.
"There is no but! I understand. There's no need to apologize ..." she replied. And even though Regina seemed to have forgave him , he still was the one to blame for the danger she now was in and the whole town.
"I can't... I just can't forgive myself ..." he said "I will get your heart back even if it means sacrifice mine..." he continued with determination to fix his mistake.
"No " Regina said firmly with a calm voice, "We'll find another way. There's always one… I.. I... I can't risk your life or your son's again...I can't lose you…" she trailed off. She really didn't know where all that came from and she turned away a bit embarrassed.
"I don't understand... But why ? I am just a thief ... and I just lost your heart. Why did you even trust me in the first place? " he said as he didn't know what else to say. This woman was very confusing. One moment she was just a stranger he met two days ago and then she talked to him like she knew him her whole life.
"You didn't lose my heart" she then said "That Witch took it. And she threaten your son. And I know he is the most important thing you have...I know you did your best ... " she then added as hate rose up to her eyes. She had to find this witch before she hurt anyone else. She now knew this woman was of these was Robin's fault. She was after all the one who stole her heart.
"And now what? We will pretend that none of these happened ? You will just forgive me ? Regina ...how are you not afraid ? She has your heart. You are in great danger" Robin shook her out of her thoughts and she could hear the fear in his voice. Why did he worry about her? No one ever did. And somehow a man she barely knew was more concerned than people she knew for ages now. And he didn't even know their connection yet. But she liked that was really comforting to know that there was still someone who cared even a little bit about her.
"No. I am not afraid. I know that I will get my heart back. I know there are people out there who are willing to help"she said and she sounded very optimistic all of the sudden. But she really felt like she could do this." People like you..." she then added hopefully.
"People like me...? But you barely know me" Robin then said with doubt in his voice. Why would she trust him still even though he had already failed to protect her heart?
"Well for some strange reason ... I trust you" she said and gave him a small smile before she walk away.
