Author's Note: I certainly hope atleast ONE person enjoys this little song-ish-kinda-ficlet. First story, woohoo! It's what I imagined happen after The Battle of Hogwarts at the end of Deathly Hallows. Something that would be going through all of the characters heads. I wrote this while listening to the song "With Tired Eyes, Tired Minds, Tired Souls, We Slept" by Explosions in the Sky. Wow I'm so original right? It went well. (; Please R&R

It was bittersweet. Like biting into a treat, expecting it to be all you imagined, and only getting half of the surprise.
There was something missing, a feeling you wanted to be fulfilled. But at the same time, hated the thought of it.
Hated the shape and color of it. The treat was not what you expected. Was that the surprise?

What if I had done something differently? Those thoughts will swim through anyone's head.
It doesn't matter if they played one of the biggest roles, or one of the smallest.
You will have lost someone. You will have lost yourself. Was that what the treat was all about?

The air was stale, unmoving and unlively. The feeling was beyond tired, beyond scared, and beyond death.
Something had been conquered here, and some things had been lost forever in a sea of drowned-out sorrow.
The ocean's waves flew up in a fit towards the sky, but under the water, everything was unchanged. Everything was calm.
The world continued on, without the chunk of it's missing heart.

Their death was not unjustified. They died willingly. Fighting for what they believe. There could be no better death than so.
But it did not ease the pain of loss and suffering. With sluggish movements, bodies began easing.
Understanding and accepting what could have been the inevitable, or perhaps just the unfortunate.

Colors erupted into the sky, it startled some people, but didn't bring a flinch to others.
To the tired eyes that witnessed death, to the tired minds that fought beyond their own comprehension.
To the souls that gave their lives to that dreadful, and honorable day.

With tired eyes, tired minds, tired souls, we slept.
