Gazing at the Stars
Two people were sitting by the small lake close to the Burrow. The weird-looking house shone with a warm, cosy light. Inside was everyone he considered family. The Weasleys and the Potters had enjoyed a great meal á la Molly, just like every Sunday. Laughing, talking, and simply enjoying each others company and the feeling of family.
One look from her from over the table told him that she wanted to get out. Her blue eyes were so easy for him to read. They snuck out after dessert. She immediately went to sit by the lake, just like he knew she would. It was her spot, and it had been since they were small. It was just natural.
He went over to sit by her, and put his arm around her. She rested her head on his shoulder. He smiled. Her strawberry blonde hair shone almost like silver in the moonlight. She sighted.
"Teddy… Thanks. I love them and all, but… They are a handful at times", she said. Teddy laughed quietly.
"I know. I mean… I almost live with James and Al".
They were quiet for a while. One of the things he liked most about Victoire – she knew the art of spending time with someone without always feeling the need to talk. Even with him; they didn't spend that much time together at Hogwarts. They were in different houses and years and they each had their own friends. But they knew each other of course, from all the play dates before Hogwarts, and the many dinners at the Burrow.
It was a warm summer night. It wasn't that dark yet, but they could easily see the moon and the stars. Teddy gazed up at them. Millions of lights, far, far away. He liked watching the stars. They soothed him, made him feel closer to his Mum and Dad.
"Oh! Did you see that, Vici? A falling star…"
"Yeah, I saw it", she sounded sad, which confused Teddy. He'd been mesmerized by the fallen star – they were rare and made him feel special. He frowned and looked at her.
"What is it?"
"It's just…", she started, but trailed off. Victoire met his gaze. "It's just that they always make me feel so alone. All the stars are millions of miles away from each other. And when they fall… I only figured it'd be better to fall together."
Teddy looked at her. He was surprised by the deep answer. Suddenly he realised that she wasn't the little girl he used to think she was. She'd grown into a young woman.
"Yeah…" he said quietly. "I guess…. It'd be better to fall together".
And that was the night Teddy Lupin realised that he was like one of those stars, because he had slowly started to fall himself. Falling… Like a star, and he was falling for Victoire Weasley.
So… That's that. Shorter than I thought... I'm not all too pleased with it actually, I guess it looked a little different in my head when I first thought of it.
Anyway, what do you guys think? I'd love a review, and please tell me if you think I should write more Teddy/Victoire!
