Somethin's Wrong
A/N: My, it has been very long indeed since I've written on FF! I'm a bit rusty . Anyway, welcome to the re-written version of Something's Wrong. This time, I'll try to be more active with it! Putting the summary since it can't be viewed on mobile. Also, there will now be the inclusion of cursing. Sorry in advanced.
Summary: 10 years ago, Kudo Shinichi had met a strange woman. Long forgetting the incident with Her, Shinichi's mind is put at ease until she comes back- and she wants to finish what she started...
He should've listened.
As a mix of sweat and rain traveled down the side of Shinichi's face, the 7 year old deeply regretting not listening. 'Come home as soon as you're finished.' She told him. 'Don't be late!' She told him that multiple times before he left the house- and yet he brushed her off with the wave of a hand.
Why didn't he just listen?!
Tears threatened to spill from his eyes. No, no crying. People smell fear, and this was not the time to be afraid. Shaking his head nearly gave him vertigo.
He didn't dare stop. He could hear her right on his heals. Stopping would be the death of him- quite literally.
If he continued to run, he would escape, right?
His house, his house was right there. Shinichi gave a shaky smile as he burst through the gates of his home, quickly racing up the steps before beginning to pound on the door. He could hear her steps, even above the sound of the rain.
"Okaa-san!" He cried, the rain making it difficult to keep a steady fist against the door. "Okaa-san! Let me in! Please! Okaa-san!"
The next scream that was forming in his throat was cut off by a sharp grab at his neck, pressure building up as he looked down to his capture.
It was Her.
He was desperate to scream, and he couldn't. Whether it be from her cutting of his vocal cords or a lack of oxygen, he couldn't bring himself to scream. He was completely at her mercy, completely frozen in fear.
Lord help him.
The edges of his vision began to darken, and he felt a warm feeling travel down his throat, eventually spreading to his chest and clothes. Crimson. The same thing was dripping off of her hands, and she gave a sadistic smirk before showing him a knife completely drenched in-
Blood?!
In a weak attempt to get her to let go of him, he began to claw at her hands. She didn't even grimace.
So much happened so fast. He wasn't even sure what happened. One moment he was hanging by his throat and the next moment he was face up and wide eyed, staring into the sky and rain dribbled down his face. He cough and sputtered. Various figures came into his line of sight.
She was gone.
..."I'll be back!" She yelled, snarling as her eyes burned with hell fire. "I'll be back to get you! And don't you forget~!"...
Conan shot up, gasping for air as he gripped the front of his shirt.
'That dream again.'
It was the same dream. Last time he had it was a full year after the incident, and he never had it since. And yet, here it was, a full two weeks in a row it had plagued his sleep, burning a reminder into his head that, yes, it did happen.
His head pounded. After he had that dream, it always did. Maybe his lack of sleep was starting to catch up with him, and he prayed he didn't come down with anything. Pressing the heel of his palm to his slightly warm forehead, Conan reached over to get his glasses. Until, at least, he realized that it was still dark out.
Casting a tired eye towards the alarm clock on the nightstand, it read 4:15 AM. Oh yeah, this was entirely too early for him to be up.
Movement from his peripheral vision snapped him back to reality. Conan looked over towards the doorway, and a very familiar figure was standing in the doorway.
"Conan-kun...?" She yawned, rubbing her eye as she gave the boy a worried look. "What's wrong? It's awful late to be up..."
Conan tried to cough up a fake smile, hoping it would distract her enough to forget why she came in. "O-Oh, it's, um...nothing, Ran-neechan."
She didn't look like she was buying it. "Are you sure? You can tell me anything." Ran walked over and sat down next to him. The look in her eyes gave Conan a sense of security, like she could protect him in his worst of moments. Even if it was only for a moment, he completely forgot why he was so scared in the first place.
He averted his gaze to his lap. He couldn't tell her. He hadn't even informed her of what happened when he was Shinichi. In fact, no one knew what had happened except for his parents. They had kept the entire thing out of public eye. Honestly, he could see why. "Ah, it's..." He couldn't feel like he could tell her. As much as he trusted Ran, and even if that woman really did just give him an empty threat, the constant nagging feeling at the bottom of his stomach wouldn't go away that telling others would only get them hurt.
Or worse.
"I-It was only a nightmare." A vague answer. He was hoping she wouldn't pry on, he wasn't willing to let on anymore.
She embraced him tightly. "Oh, Conan-kun! It's alright, nightmares are normal, especially for children your age." Worry was clearly written across her face, but she covered it up with a small smile, getting up from her position on the floor. "I'm sorry it happened to you. But, if it helps, we can all safely say that our nightmare will never come true."
As Ran gave a goodnight and left the room, Conan couldn't help but still have a sinking feeling in the pit of his stomach.
He gave a wary smile to no one in particular. 'I don't think I can say the same for mine...'
A/N: So, how do y'all like the re-write so far? It's pretty late that I'm writing this, and I'm hungry, so I don't think this is the best I can do. Anyway, I hope you guys'll stick around for future re-writes of later chapters, as well as other stories, because I plan on being more active in the near future. Well, I'll pick up the re-writes tomorrow.
Enjoy~! Thanks for reading!
