0: VAMPIRE
'The vampire is described as a bloodthirsty creature whose sole purpose is to make the lives of human beings miserable and to continuously procreate their species until it reaches the level of the human population.
'While that has been true for a long while, I've noticed as the years have gone by that the vampire has evolved into a worse creature that make those of the past seem obsolete. At the same time, there are those that have resurfaced, those that still stay despite their time long gone, those that seem to blur the line, and those that no longer resemble the vampire in it's original form. Indeed, the word "vampire" can no longer apply to a whole lot of these creatures.
'But I know better.
'For years after my victory against the Lord of the Vampires, through all my observations and tests, I've reached a conclusion as to the current state of the vampire race, and a dire threat that threatens all of humanity.
'The Night of Red Moon.
'This is what I have called this day, a lunar eclipse that re-colors the moon in crimson blood, and a day when all the vampires of the world will be engulfed in a blood-frenzy and begin to indiscriminately attack and consume humans and even their own race.
'It might be wrong of me to accuse all of the vampire species to my own personal quest. Indeed, there are some that have aligned themselves to the human race and even pacified their own blood needs. Yet, this would be not be the first time in history that this would happen. During my travels, to evidence that dated even back to the Sumerians, the Egyptians, the Greeks, Romans, Aztecs, all of ancient civilization to even quotes in the Holy Books, the Night of Red Moon has occurred once in an era. Humanity was only lucky to escape from the scourge of vampirism due to each of those era's heroes. However, no matter how strong, the heroes of the Modern Era cannot hope to compete with the Night when it hits. I even fear that if it is allowed to happen and as the nights keep going, I might see someone that I wish not to meet ever again. With the state of the world however, this will be inevitable. No vampire will be immune to that Night. And for that, despite my age, I will once again lend the world my abilities.
'My name is Abraham van Helsing, M.D., ., ., and so on. I am a doctor and a lawyer. And I, until my fame exposed it, was secretly a vampire hunter.
'I know that at my age, I shouldn't even fight these creatures anymore. I said the same thing when I fought Dracula, yet I was able to prevail. They may be dangerous, but that only means I must be more dangerous than them. I have a long road ahead of me, and I know I will be challenged for my theories and my actions, but I must forgo those and charge forward to my mission. In the end, whether I am called a hero or a monster is irrelevant. My mission is to humanity and I shall complete it, no matter what object, what person, what events may occur. Whoever I meet, whoever I fight, let it all be recorded in the books as humanity's final war against vampirism, my final war against vampirism.'
With the final sentence written, Professor Van Helsing rose from his chair, gathered all the supplies he had prepared, and stepped through the door and out his home. He took one final glance across his broad shoulder back to his home, realizing that it will be a long time before he is able to come backā¦
