Twilight
Edward Elric was fuming. Not only had he found out that someone was posing as him and getting all kinds of recognition in Xenotime, but he was being thrown out of places much like he had been three years before. It was getting to be ridiculous, the amount of nights spent outside, like they were back on Izumi's island. He'd told Alphonse to meet him on a hill nearby while he went out for a walk.
He needed a break, he could barely contain the rage he was feeling, and he was slightly above throwing a temper tantrum in the middle of the street. Ahead of him, was another hill, larger then the one he'd told Al to meet him at. Edward sighed and began climbing. Physical activity was a great deterrent to rage.
It took a little bit of effort, enough for sweat to dot Ed's brow, but he felt better, re-energized. It felt good, he decided. Upon reaching the top, he plopped down and drew his knees to his chest to look out over Xenotime and think.
That was how Russell saw him. He was looking out the window and there Edward was, sitting on top of the hill alone. Where had his brother gone? He was curious about the true person to his fake persona and he slipped out to investigate.
Though the hill was steep and rough, it wasn't too difficult to climb. Nearing the top, Russell stopped to admire Edward. The moonlight had done wonderful things, reflecting off the smaller boy's pale skin. The twilight was kind to him, accenting how beautiful his features were. Russell found himself in awe of Edward's presence when he wasn't moving and complaining.
Then the boy turned back and his eyes widened in surprise. "You!" He cried.
Russell smirked and climbed up the rest of the way to stand next to him. "Well, look who's here out in the cold."
"Don't talk over me! Get down here!" Edward cried indignantly.
"I don't think I will. It's not my fault you're that small."
The teen exploded and stood up quickly. "Who are you calling so small he can be stepped on like an ant escaping a picnic?!"
Russell could barely hold back a laugh. The other boy was almost cute when he was going insane. Instead of answering Edward, he watched him, his whole body alive as his heaved with frustration, anger and the exhilaration from losing his temper. It really was adorable. He stepped forward, grabbed Edward's flailing hands and kissed him once on the mouth.
Edward froze, completely overtaken with surprise.
Russell parted and let go of Edward, having the good sense to move before he got his lights knocked out.
"YOU BASTARD!" Edward screamed.
Russell bolted and laughed the whole way back to Magwar's.
