House: Gryffindor, Category: Drabble, Prompt: Luna Lovegood, Word Count: 359
Luna is an observer. She takes notice of things that others overlook. People think she's a bit peculiar, but she truly finds joy in exploring the undetected aspects of life.
At the moment, she is sitting by the Black Lake admiring the beautiful day. By anyone else's standards, it would be slightly dreary, with the clouds overhead threatening to send rain below. Luna smiles. The uncertainty makes it exciting and the clouds give stretch to the imagination.
It isn't a surprise that no one else is spending time outside today, except for the few stragglers here and there, just purposefully moving towards their destination. She likes to watch them too. Not in a strange kind of way; she simply enjoys acknowledging their presence and imagining the places they may be headed.
Two people catch her eye; the first, Hermione Granger, stands by the lake while Draco Malfoy looks around before joining her, obviously not noticing Luna where she lies.
Luna understands why they wouldn't want to be seen together, with the rivalries between houses, but she thinks it's quite sweet. She notices what others don't and she has seen the looks between them in the halls; the apologetic expression he sends Hermione before an insult, the slight twitch of a brow to signal a meeting, the pointed look to a location. It's strategic, exciting.
They fit well together. Their energy blends perfectly, their magic is complimenting. Luna has seen them here before, only on the days when others are hesitant to step outside, and she quietly observes them as they sit together.
Today, her predictions come true. Love. She can see it in their eyes. Their hands are interlocked, connecting them in an intimate way. Hermione bites her lip, seemingly nervous and Draco leans closer until they kiss.
It's only a moment but Luna can see the smile on Hermione's lips, the glow to her features, and knows it was a good kiss.
Perhaps she's being a bit intrusive. But then again, she is only sitting in her usual place to enjoy an excitingly cloudy day. She sees the unseen, and today, she saw a forbidden love in bloom.
