A/N not mine, I own nothing but the plot.
Recently our community lost an amazing woman, and I was proud to call her my friend and sister of the heart. Claudette Miller, may you fly with the Angels and be at peace and out of pain. We love you and miss you my friend.
I Know Her
Ranger sat at his desk waiting for the general to finish signing the paperwork that would signal the end of his military career. They would be going to his favorite hole in the wall diner for lunch when it was all daid and done. It wasn't the food or the staff the keeps him going back. It was because it was the place he met Stephanie. A small smile formed on his face as he thought of her. The General looked at him strangely. He had never seen the man smile before.
The formalities were quickly over and they were on their way to the diner. They were sitting in a booth at a window. Their conversation was about diffrent things that they had seen over their military careers as they waited for their lunch. A familiar blur ran past them and all Ranger could think was 'Oh, Shit!'. He began to stand and the General put a hand on his arm to try and stop him. Shaking him off, Ranger took off after them.
When he caught up with them he found Steph covered in garbage with a bruise forming along her jaw. She had her skip in cuffs and was dragging him to stand up.
"Need some help, Babe?"
"Ranger? When did you get here?" she asked shocked.
"Just a moment ago."
"Okay. I could use a hand getting him to my car."
He yanked the guy up the rest of the way and glared at him. The man cowered under it and complied with Ranger. They made their way the two blocks to her car and he secured him in the back seat. He then helped Stephanie into her car with a tug on her curls and a kiss to her lips.
"Be ready at six tonight, Babe."
She gave him a confused look before asking, "Did we have plans that I forgot about?"
"In a way, this is the start of our someday."
He turned amd walked back into the diner as she sat there stunned at his words. He heard a squeal come from her car when he put his hand on the door handle. He shook his head with a grin and walked back inside to his seat and lunch partner.
"Do you know her?" The General asked with a glint in his eye.
"Do I know her?" He asked with a chuckle. "Yeah, I know her. I adore that woman. She's blessed, caring, loving, sweet, beautiful; a woman of spirit. I don't just know her, I love that woman."
The General sat back in shock at his words. One person he never expected to fall in love with someone was the man sitting across from him. He had to admit that Ranger looked good in love.
They went back to the office and parted ways with a handshake. Ranger went upstairs to his office and called Tank to inform him that he would be offline for the next three days. He planned to take his Babe to the Batcave and try to convince her to move into it with him. He wanted to make someday into forever.
A/N I know it's short, but this is based on something Claudette sent to me called I know her. She will forever be remembered and missed by so many...I know her and loved my friend.
