"Well," Siruis Black said with a laugh, "just make sure they don't run off and get married before they pick out propper dress robes. You never know where or when wedding photo's will turn up," he added.

Harry Potter, his godson, had just finished telling him the hilarious tale of how his two best friends, Ron and Hermione, had finally started seeing each other. He had told this story so many times before, to various classmates, that he had thought he had heard every response possible. But that comment from Sirius suprised him.

"Sirius," he said slowly, "you do know that they are only kids? Hermione won't even be 16 until September."

"At what age do you think you parents got married?"

This elicited no reply from Harry.

"August 14, 1979. A little more than two weeks before our sixth year started."

Harry shook his head, stunned. "That can't be right," he finally responded decisively. "That would mean that I would have been born before seventh year."

"You were. And a great excuse for getting out of class, as well. 'Ooh! Professor! Little baby Harry's crying. Can I take him outside for a few minutes?'"

Harry just shook his head in disbelief again. "But...but that's so early," he protested.

"Everything was done earlier then," Sirius replied somberly. "You didn't know how long you were going to live so you needed to do things as soon as possible in case you were killed. What would normally take three or four years would happen in the blink of an eye." At seeing Harry's extremely shocked face, Sirius quickly tried to mollify the situation with a "sad, but true."

"Oh wow." Harry sounded a bit overwhelmed. "They were killed when they were 18. They would have barely known how to apparate, more or less fight Voldemort." The last part of his statement was very bitter.

"If it makes you feel better, Harry, both were able to apparate before they were 17. Not legally, of course," he added with a grin, "but...."

Harry's only response to that was silence.

"I hadn't realize you hadn't known about their ages and such. If I had, I would have approached this topic more delicately."

"I know." Harry paused for a second. "Thanks anyways."
