Skateboard Lesson
KC smiled at his friend,Claire. She was staring down at the skateboard that he rested his right foot on as if it were some type of foreign object.
"You know,it really isn't safe for you to be skateboarding without the proper equipment. You should atleast wear a helmet." She declared to KC,gazing up at him.
KC laughed and rose a hand to his head,running it through his hair,making it messier than it had been before. "You really need to stop worrying Claire! Live a little! I could teach you how to skateboard if you like." He said,taking his foot off the board and resting it on the ground. He let his backpack slide down his arm and spill down to the hard ground as he placed a gentle hand on his friend's wrist.
Claire's blue eyes widened in horror behind her glasses and she shook her head negatively,trying to pull away.
A soft look came into KC's green eyes and he gave her an innocent smile,slightly pouting at her. "I promise you Claire,I won't let you fall." He said,urging her to look into his eyes and see that he was being truthful with her.
Claire turned her head away slightly,her gaze intently on the ground. She finally bit her lip and turned to face him. "Okay. I'll let you teach me. Just,no crazy stunts!" She stated softly,narrowing her eyes at him seriously.
"Great!" He exclaimed brightly,giving her a warm grin.
Claire took in a deep,cleansing breath to calm herself,then placed one foot then the other on the skateboard,grabbing on to KC's forearms nervously when the board moved ever so slightly.
"Calm down. I won't let anything happen to you." KC instructed in a soft,soothing tone of voice. He let go of her elbows and walked behind her to place his hands on her waist. He whispered instructions into his ear and let go of her waist when he thought Claire had gotten the hang of it. He smiled at her proudly. Although Claire's eyes were shut tightly,he could clearly see a broad smile on her face.
Suddenly,Claire seemed to be losing her balance and KC rushed over to catch her in his arms so she wouldn't fall to the ground. He stumbled slightly,falling into the grass with her on top of him. His arms were braced protectively around her back and Claire's arms were clutching his shoulders. The pulled away slightly and stared into one another's eyes. Blushes stained both of their cheeks.
"Sorry." She stuttered,getting ready to move away.
KC had no idea what exactly came over him. Suddenly he had one hand on the small of Claire's back and the other caressed the back of her soft neck,pulling her to his lips. He lifted up slightly and kissed her shyly.
They pulled away from one another to catch their breaths. They stared at eachother in suprise,rather unsure of what had just occured between them. Both were sure though,that their friendship was changed forever.
