Hello! my name is Damagedskittle, but-as my friend has informed me- that is quite the annoying thing to type. so, feel free to call me any nick-name you like. First thing, I am very sorry if this author note is upsetting you, please do skip ahead if it does. So, to the business:

yes, I did use to have three works published, I have thoroughly given up on all of them. they will never be revived.

I don't mean to offend anyone in my writings, so if I somehow manage to do so, please let me know (nicely) in the comments and I will fix it, and dedicate the next chapter to you. Thanks very much.

I lied when I said they would never be revived, I will be taking the mess that was "Guardian", fixing it up, adding some zest, and re-introducing it.

and I do believe that's it. Many thanks to those of you who listened to me ramble on, you receive virtual hugs.

and now, for the main event...

This makes no sense... he thought to himself, pacing and standing at the door, raising a hand to knock, then dropping it to pace once more. Why am I so nervous? he shakes himself and finally knocks.

"Dude?" his voice cracks slightly, and he mentally scolds himself. Get a grip! "Come on Zack, we're gonna be late!"

no answer.

"Dammit Addy." they had never been late before. More specifically, Zack Addy- well, Dr. Zach Addy- had never let them be late. The younger scientist had always been the one to push the elder out the door, frantically raving about some nonsense Hodgins never paid much attention to. How could he when the most adorable boy ever was holding his hand in an effort to drag Jack out the door?

Oh, yes, Jack had fallen for his co-worker. He had fallen hard and fast. The way the poor kid seemed so socially awkward was simply adorable. And he did look very good in a suit.

"Alright Zack, I'm coming in!" he opens the door to find the normally neat apartment a mess, papers everywhere. Worry quickens Jack's pulse.

Zack would never let it get this messy. Never.

"Zack!" he raises his voice, fear making it louder than it should be. A faint groan reaches his ears, coming from the bed- Zack's bed. "Hey, Zack, buddy, we're gonna be late." after a few minutes of silence, the groan appears once more.

"I am aware of that, Dr. Hodgins, and you should probably leave to go to the Jeffersonian now." Zack's voice is faint, slightly pained, and lower than normal. Jack almost laughs at how formal Zack is, even now.

"Aren't you coming with Zacky?" Jack asks, faintly blushing at the nickname.

"I am unable to." at this remark, Jack is chuckling.

"And why would that be?" he asks, walking over to where Zack is lying in bed.

"I am sick." Zack explains, wincing as he rolls over to face Jack. His chocolate brown hair is messy, and his eyes are half-closed and relaxed. Oh, God. Jack's eyes widen Zack has sex-hair... "My tempature is 105 degrees Fahrenheit, my nose is clogged and it feels like my head is killing itself repeatedly."

"oh." Jack pulls out his cell phone, dialing Cam and kicking his shoes off at the door.

"Hi, Cam?" 'Hodgins?' "yeah, Zack's sick, I won't be able to make it today." 'Zack? yeah, okay. what's wrong with him?' "fever of 105, headache, stuffy nose." 'well, let's hope it goes away quickly. Bye.' "See ya Cam, thanks." Jack hangs up and tosses his phone on the table next to Zack's bed.

"you don't have to stay here you know." Jack laughs again.

"I know, I want to make sure you're alright," Zack blushes, nodding.

"so, let's see about that fever." Jack leans on the bed, pressing a cool hand to Zack's burning forehead. "damn, kid." he trails his hand to Zack's cheek, caressing it gently. Zack's eyes widen, blushing a darker shade of red. "Just how long have you had this cold?"

"I estimate about two weeks. The fever has been at 100 to 101 for about two days now and the headaches have been on an-"

"you've been that sick and you're only now staying home?!" Jack yells, making Zack flinch away.

"I wasn't that sick... and I didn't want to miss work." Zack replies sheepishly.

"Why wouldn't you tell someone, tell me?"

"I... I didn't want to... to worry you." Zack mumbles.

This is what makes Jack snap.

He leans forward and hugs the smaller man tightly, nuzzling into Zack's neck.

"I don't mind worrying, Zack." he smiles and pulls back to gaze into the wide eyes of an extremely shocked, blushing Zach Addy. "I' rather look after you than have you over-work yourself." Jack presses a kiss on Zack's lips. "I love you, you silly."

Zack smiles and hugs Jack. "I love you too."

"...You realize you are very likely going to get sick now, right?" Jack just bursts out laughing and kisses him again.
