Gregory House could've distinguished himself as a penguin due to his waddling. Normal people could fast-walk, he waddles. He was chasing after a brunette woman with flowing curls. She must wake up early every day to perfect that hair, he thought. In his hand was a piece of paper that gave him his new dosage of annoyance.
"What the hell is this?" he bellowed when he caught up beside Dr. Cuddy, limping-waddling.
"That, Dr. House, is a piece of paper. I assume the pain in your leg had traveled to your brain and caused nerve damage?" it was that sarcastic annoying tone she always uses on him.
"You are adding someone to my department? To my team?" he clenched his teeth, his grip on his cane tightened as he tried to keep up with her.
Dr. Cuddy pressed the elevator button and turned to her, "Yes. I am employing an additional person to your team. I think there's a subtexted 'thank you' in your yelling voice."
House took in a breath and looked down at her, "You are not adding or reducing anyone in my department."
"Really? What will you do if I do? Which, if you haven't noticed by our splendid conversation, I already did." Cuddy placed her hands on her hips, her eyebrow raised with a taunting glint in her eyes.
"I—I—I won't accept any cases." He knew that was lame. He'd die of boredom without cases.
Dr. Cuddy let out a derisive noise, "You won't accept any cases? Even if it's patient with necrosis and internal bleeding?"
"That—is…actually interesting," he commented, getting sidetracked. The elevator dinged! and he followed Cuddy inside.
"Dr. Chase." Cuddy greeted to the young, blond doctor.
"Dr. Cuddy and…Dr. House?" Dr. Chase greeted with an Aussie-British accent. He looked at Gregory House as though he had seen him from the dead. "I thought you're on suspension—?"
"Not now," House turned back to Cuddy, "Why are you adding another idiot on my team?"
"Hey!"Dr. Chase reacted but Cuddy and House ignored him.
Cuddy took in a deep breath and turned to House with a stern face, "You'll be glad I put her on your team, House. Many doctors would gladly bring out their scalpel and joust the other doctors for her to be included in their team. She's brilliant, I can tell you that. She's a fresh grad student from medical school, complete with training and residency."
"A fresh grad student with training and residency?" Chase interjected.
"So she's a fresh grad student. You're practically throwing in a baby to my team! We're experts, not a daycare!"
The elevator opened and Cuddy stepped out, "Put her in your team for a month and I promise I'll get you off clinic duty for two weeks."
"Two months."
"In your team?"
Chase and Cuddy both smiled tauntingly.
"No! Clinic duty!"
Cuddy nodded with a smile, "On your team for a month and a week, you're off two months."
House rolled his eyes and sighed, "Done."
