Life is a series of never ending cycles, continuously flowing to preserve the balance. Those who die in the World of the Living move on to the Spirit World to begin a new live with all past memories erased. The souls who die in the Spirit World are reincarnated in the World of the Living with no recollection of their former past. This is the cycle, we all live, but what if it stopped? What would happened then? It is the duty of the Soul Reapers to make sure a conundrum like that never happens. ..What might have been different without them?..

30 minutes before the Captain's Meeting

"Oh damnit! Im going to be late and its my first day on the job too." Said a male Soul Reaper with long, spiky, black hair that goes back with a lock of hair hanging down in front of his face as he tried to get dress.

"I told you not to stay up so late, but sadly following directions is not one of your best qualities." Said a male Soul Reaper with dark, silverish white long hair as stood by the door fully dressed.

"Shut the fuck up will ya, Ray?"

"Im only telling the truth, Kai, besides we still have some time before we are summoned before the Captains."

"Yea but still, you didn't have to be such a pain in the ass about it like that!"

"I would but its my job to annoy the hell out of my best friend."

For a moment Ray and Kai laughed, remembering how brotherly they act toward each other.

"We better get a move on then," Kai tied the sash around his waist. "Look out world, cause Im going all the way to the top baby!"

"You dumbass! You're so damn full of it sometimes! Remember the 13 Court Guard Squad Captains? Not only are they more experienced, but extremely powerful as well." Ray face-palmed.

"You always such a damn kill-joy."

"No, you are just a damn idiot."

Both Kai and Ray glared at each other, then raced off at high speeds with Hohõ (Flash step). A few Soul Reapers on the ground watched them from the ground as the they sped past them on the rooftop. Kai had pulled ahead of Ray and kept the lead while gradually increasing the gap between them. Then with a sudden burst of speed, Ray caught up with Kai. But just as he caught up, Suì-Fēng flew right past them as if they were standing still. But the cold look she gave them sent chills down their spines causing them to lose focus and crash into one another.

"What the hell? Get off of me!" Ray shouted with an angry tone.

"Sorry about that," Kai said as he rolled off of him. "Who was that? And why did she give us that look she hated us?"

"I think that was Suì-Fēng and I don't know what she has against us. Obviously she's a captain. And her speed in astronomical, I heard captains were fast but damn. She flew past us like we weren't moving at all.."

"Holy shit, and we didnt notice her till she passed us.."

Kai and Ray stood there completely amazed at her speed. A few Soul Reapers, who saw what happened, laughed. While they we laughing, a small grin like smile appeared on Kai's face. Ray Looked at him with a questionable look.
