A/N: And here we have another result of boredom on an eight-hour car ride up to my uncle's house to stay the weekend for my cousin's wedding. The trip made me think a lot about romance because of the wedding and seeing my cousin and her husband at the actual wedding. It was a very nice wedding too.
Disclaimer: I do not own Yu Yu Hakusho. The story and all characters belong to Yoshihiro Togashi.
Levels
There are several levels of love.
There's the first love, the love for your parents, your protectors, then the love for your siblings, if you have any, and uncles, aunts and cousins. Then comes the love for your friends, the casual just "okay" friends, and the best friends.
Yusuke Urameshi had the love for his mother, but not his dad, he was a smuck, and he didn't have any siblings, aunts, uncles or cousins. Still, he never seemed to have a problem learning to love people, even if he didn't show it very well.
Keiko Yukimura loved her parents, and she also had no siblings, cousins, aunts or uncles. She never had a problem loving or showing it.
After the two met they were in love with each other, in the way someone loves their oldest childhood friend, but Yusuke was still not very good about showing her affection.
Years passed, and while that level remained, they gained the level of siblings, for they may as well have been. However, they were both extremely oblivious when they started to like each other as more than siblings or friends, or at least Keiko was, made clear when she nearly cried to death herself after his death.
After he returned and she finally discovered the truth about the underworld and the whole spirit detective business and the stupid tournaments, no matter how annoyed she got with him, she still held at least two levels of love for him.
He let her abuse him when she was mad at him, he knew she was just angry that he'd made her worry (or that he'd touched her when she didn't want to be touched) and he probably deserved it.
Years and years continued to pass and that severed to deepen each level.
And finally, a few months after they confessed to loving each other on those three levels of friends, siblings and being in love, Yusuke Urameshi and Keiko Yukimura obtained a new level of love.
The level of being husband and wife.
The End
A/N: I've always liked Yusuke and Keiko's relationship because it really does have so many levels to it. I think it makes for a very cute friendship as well as a possible deep romance.
Please review and I hope you enjoyed!
