Liara T'Soni starred out the escape-pod window. Her eyes darting back and forth, looking for Commander Jane Shepard. She scanned the ruins of the S.S.V Normandy SR-1.
A woman in pheonix, pink and white, heavy armor got out of her seat and walked over to Liara.
"Skipper will be fine." the woman soothed.
"I hope so. Oh ..." Liara cried.
"Call me Ashley. But, she'll be fine, don't worry yourself." she repeated. Liara looked at her for a moment longer then turned to the window once more.
As she watched the ship get smaller and smaller, she began to cry. Liara put one of her hands on the glass.
"Be safe, Jane." she whispered. As if Jane were really there, her voice replied.
"Don't worry. Be safe yourself Liara..."
Liara blinked and then took her seat. Ashley was still standing.
"Skipper?" she called into her comm unit. "Commander! Do you read me?" she continued. Liara stood once more as Ashley turned off the comm link.
"Try again!" Liara screamed.
"I'm sorry, the Commander is..." Ashley began. "Dead." she ended, silence filled the pod and all eyes burned on Ashley. Liara fell into her seat.
"No. No! It can't be true! Maybe she's to far away to contact by comm." Liara suggested. Ashley shook her head.
"Doctor T'Soni." Tali interrupted, waving her omni-tool in the air. "The bio scans show twenty crew members dead and one officer. N7 armor on the officer. The twenty-one are dead. No life signs are on the Normandy anymore."
"She's right." Ashley confirmed. Liara leaned forward in her seat and put her head in her hands.
"You always have to save others." she whispered. Then she was silent, tears covered her face. Shepard was dead. No, Jane was dead. The first and only person Liara ever loved was gone, the night before Ilos seemed only last night. Jane was gone, leaving everybody she knew behind. Between her allies, her friends and Liara, there was going to be to much sorrow. Liara closed her eyes and fell unconscience, her last thought about Jane Shepard.
