Disclaimer: I don't own the House of Night series. Lovie mush, Nico'sGirl.
AN: I have only read Marked, so my story picks up from there.
Zoey's POV
Neferet catches me leaving the dining hall.
"Zoey," she says, tapping me on the shoulder, "We have a new exchange student. She is waiting in my office. Do you think you can give her a tour before you show her to her room?"
"Um, sure, I guess." Neferet nods and goes into the dining hall, where the vamps are having their staff meeting.
I walk down the hall to Neferet's office. When I go in, there is, sure enough, a girl sitting there. She stands up when I come in. She's super tall, like the Amazons we read about. Her hair is a deep brown. It's very curly and hangs in spirals down to her waist.
She smiles when she sees me. Only now do my eyes travel to her mark. I can barely hold back the gasp in my throat that threatens to bubble up and expose me.
And I thought my mark was weird. Her mark is a deep, deep black. The design so dark it makes her green eyes pop out of her head. She is pretty, behind the creepy.
"Are you Zoey?" She asks. She speaks with an accent, something European I guess.
"Yeah, I am." I say, wary.
"Your mark." She says, pointing to my forehead and shoulder. "It is different like mine." So she's pretty brave, getting past all the awkwardness.
"Yeah, I guess it is." I say. I hold the door open for her. "So, um, where are you from?"
"France. I come here for a year. Exchange student program." She smiles at me.
"Neferet might have already told you, but I am Zoey Redbird, the leader of the Dark Daughters, a group in our school's student body. This means that I will be the next High Priestess."
She nods understandingly. Then she stops. "I have not told you my name. I am Artemis Luna Skye. It is nice to meet you Zoey Redbird."
"You might want to join the Dark Daughters sometime. You can get a pretty good position here. So I am inviting you, to our ritual tonight."
"Yes, I will come." Artemis says eagerly.
I give Artemis Luna the tour of the whole campus. She does the whole appropriate "oohs" and "aahs".
I take her up to her dorm, which she will be sleeping in by herself.
She says goodbye and as I go back to my own room I think to myself: There is something very different about Artemis Luna Skye.
