The Hunger Games: The Dove from the Capitol

Chapter 1:

Rebuilding Our Lives

Panem…Panem was completely different after the revolution. After the nation changed. After the death of President Snow and President Coin. The thirteen districts still remained. The Capitol still stood. Now, however, our government was different. Everyone had been given the right to elect our President, that's how commander Paylor became our President, they were given the right to choose their mayors, their representatives. Everyone had finally been given rights. Rights that only, we, the citizens of the Capitol used to exclusively have.

These past couple of years have been very hard. We have begun to rebuild the districts, our societies, our lives. We have all tried to move on and continue our new lives…but it's very difficult. Many of the rebels have returned to their districts and homes but some have either decided to move or have been sent to other districts. It's sad to see how we have united as a nation but because of horrible circumstances.

I've was born and raised in the Capital, my family was one of the richest in Panem, but I have always realized how unfair our society was. How unfairly the people from the twelve districts were treated. When the war broke out, I saw things that I couldn't believe. Men and woman being killed, children abandoned or left orphans because their parents were killed by the peace keepers, they all risking there their lives so there children, so there families, could have a better future.

After the war, I promised by self to go to every district and help those in need. I received permission from President Paylor. Why did I have to ask permission? Because even though the rebellion was over there were still many people who wanted to cause harm to others in Panem. There were people from districts who still wanted to continue the war, not satisfied, there were people from The Capitol who wanted revenge. She was skeptical at first, I think it's because of my background and my family, she questioned by motivates for doing this if I had no connection to the other districts. I understood this. I was a privileged eighteen year old boy who has lived a privilege life, who comes from a very wealthy family, but after I explained to her what I wanted to do, she approved it.

She made me a Dove. A Dove, was an ambassador of peace. Someone who would go to the districts and help out, someone who showed everyone that the people of The Capital wanted to help them. Just like the actual bird, we represented peace, something that everyone in Panem wanted.

Tomorrow will be my first day as an ambassador of peace. President Paylor told me that she was going to assign me her top commander for protection. When she told me this I questioned why but she told me it was a security measure, she that there were still many people who wanted to cause harm to anyone that came from the Capitol.

I've already packed all my stuff. I'm from The Capital so most of my clothes are brand name, fashionable, bright colors. I tried to find clothes that wouldn't make me stand out but even the clothes that were dark colors still stand out. I think that's one of the flaws that us, citizens, of The Capital have, we are very vain. I can't change that characteristic overnight but I am going to try to not care as much about what I ware and care more about what I am going to do to help Panem.
