Summary: Takes place years before the events of Mother 1/ Earthbound Zero. Told in Giegue's POV, when placed into George and Maria's care.
Disclaimer: I do not own the Earthbound/Mother series.
I don't understand why everyone gives Mommy and Daddy strange looks. Is it because they lack tails like me, or is it because they're from another planet? The superiors call their planet Earth. I don't understand why they would bother taking them if they're just going to look down on them.
Sometimes I end up over hearing them say bad things about George and Maria, that's their names, and that they don't really love me and that all this was just a test or something. I know they're lying, because Mother is really nice and she sometimes sings me lullabies. She has a beautiful singing voice. I'm not sure how Father is towards me though. He says that he loves me just the same as Mother does, but he's gone a lot so it's hard to tell sometimes.
"Mother?" I asked, staring at her as she cradled me to sleep, like she does every night.
"Yes Giegue?"
"Does George really love me as much as you do?"
Her face became shocked at my sudden question. "Of course he does. Where did you get the idea that he doesn't?" She asked softly.
I shrugged my shoulders. I didn't want to tell her about what I overheard earlier today from the Starmen.
"Mother, could you sing me one of your lullabies?" I asked, changing the subject.
"Of course sweetie," She smiled, as she felt my tail wag and lightly hit her arm. And started to sing:
"~Take a melody
Simple as can be
Give it some words
And sweet harmony,
Raise your voices
All day long now
Love grows strong now,
Sing a melody of love,
Oh love~"
"Mother?" I asked sleepily.
"Yes Giegue?" She said, while continuing to hum the tune.
"Will we always be together?"
She paused for a few seconds before saying "I'll always be with you Giegue."
"You promise?"
"I promise. Good night Giegue," she said, tucking me in and kissed me on the head.
"Good night Mother," I said drifting to sleep with her lullaby playing in my head:
"~Take a melody
Simple as can be
Give it some words
And sweet harmony,
Raise your voices
All day long now
Love grows strong now
Sing a melody of love,
ooh Love~"
