Title: Christmas Confections
Slughorn's crowded party provided Sanguini opportunity to slip away into the dark hall nearby.
A boisterous McLaggen darted by him calling "Hermione!" At that same instant a disheveled young woman backed into his grasp. He captured her gaze, placing her under a trance.
"Ah, so pretty, such sweet blood. My own Christmas confection," whispered Santini in anticipation, but his fangs bit into air. Santini angrily turned to face a wand held by an equally surly wizard, watching the unruly hair of his morsel escaping behind other's shielding cloak.
"I believe such sugar would be…detrimental to your circulation," Snape dangerously offered.

I watch Professor Snape escort my "confection" away, their angry whispers loud to my sensitive vampire ears.
He tells Hermione she's such a typical Gryffindor, playing hearts with no intention of returning offered affection. Her house will lose points for behavior unbecoming of a school prefect, and for her questionable judgment.
She challenges him, angrily demanding what the Head of Slytherin knows about the heart, since he never had one. However, the intelligence within her blood fails her, for he possesses a heart; one that now beats without hope.
I wait patiently; perhaps he will seek the oblivion I offer.
