CHASE
Disclaimer: I own nothing.
A/N: We had to write a short story for our story-telling cafe and had to include four things (below). The Arthur/Molly reference was something for fun. I was going to post this on FictionPress but decided on FanFiction after the whole Molly/Arthur thing.
WARNING: AU-Weasley-verse.
MUST INCLUDE:
Character: A knight in shining armour
Place: Medieval castle
Situation: A door to the future
Object: Silver vulture
I am a knight, addressed only as Sir Arthur. My home is a medieval castle in the middle of I cannot tell you. That information is classified. Sorry.
Lately I have been having very strange and inappropriate dreams about a very strange creature called a, a, female.
Her proper name is Molly. She is as sweet as sugar, as lovely as a rose in spring bloom and as soft as the clouds that hang above us.
Although I am a deeply respected knight, I have never felt a more cowardly coward. I have battled numerous monsters, fire-breathing dragons and giant sea creatures. I have experienced unspeakable things but this Molly has brought me to my knees with just one, simple, effortless glance.
Today is the day I will speak to her. Even if it kills me. But as I yet again follow her, she steps through a door I have never before seen. Recalling my day's mission, I follow through expecting to find her in another room like the others in the castle.
But I do not.
Instead, I find myself in a minuscule field field surrounded by civilians dressed rather oddly. There are also many towers in the sky. (Who knows how many trapped damsels there are to rescue?) I cover my ears as there is too much noise for me to handle. Passer-bys stare at me, confused by my armour most likely. Others look away, blinded by the reflection of the sun on my armour.
I look up and see it. A vulture, but it's silver. The crest of us knights has always been a silver vulture. I have heard thousands of stories and tales of how our knights follow the vulture in time of need and end up alive, well and at home.
Looking up, the vulture is still in sight. I run alongside it, hoping to find both home and if I am lucky (like this vulture is supposed to make me), I might also find my lovely Molly.
Following the vulture, I run and run, when a door appears out of nowhere in my way. Unable to stop (courtesy of my speed), I am most likely to crash.
But once again I was surprised.
I found myself exactly where I was before I ran into that blasted door.
"So you finally made it."
I look up and stop breathing. It is my dear sweet Molly. She is smiling. So now I am smiling.
Then the words slip out of my mouth before I can stop them, (referring to the mysterious door) "What was that?"
She smiles. Knowingly? Knowingly. She smiles knowingly.
And replies, without flaw, "It's the door to the future. You ended up 40-50 years in the future. But I went farther, I made it to 150 years in the future."
Curious to learn about the future, I ask, or rather, shyly blurt out, "What did you see?"
She just smiles mysteriously. I smile. She runs, making me realize that I missed my chance. Again.
Damn.
