"There's no place like Panem" Peeta says, overlooking the crowded streets with a distraught look on his face.
Peeta flashes back to 15 years ago. Back then, he was known as Benjamin Barker, the barber. That's when President Snow snatched away his beautiful wife, Lucy. Peeta and Lucy had lovely child named Rue. After lusting over Lucy, Snow accused Peeta of a crime he did not commit. Peeta was then separated from his wife and sent to exile in Australia. Lucy was left in the hands of Snow, and later abused. When Peeta returned to Panem, he found his wife dead and his daughter in the hands of President Snow.
Peeta snaps himself out of this horrible thought. He knows what he has to do. He must seek revenge and get his daughter back. How? Well, Peeta isn't quite sure yet.
Peeta needs to get his mind off of this. He comes across a pie shop, owned by a dirty looking woman named Katniss. The pies don't look very appetizing, but Peeta is so alone, and the company is nice.
After talking with Katniss, Peeta finds out that the she knows vital information about his "past" life. She tells the story of a young woman, which he knows as Lucy. Peeta realizes that this Katniss knew Lucy, and can tell him the information he longs for about his wife and daughter. He finds out that Lucy was tricked into going with Snow, and later committed suicide by arson. Peeta is absolutely heart broken, and Katniss figures out that this name is actually Benjamin Barker. Benjamin decided to change his name after his exile. He tells the Katniss not to call him by Benjamin Barker, but by his new name. Peeta Mellark. And Peeta Mellark will most certainly seek revenge.
Peeta goes up to Katniss' attic, and she shows him a set of barber's razors. These were once his, back when he had a beautiful daughter and wife. The razors trigger something inside him, and Peeta realizes what he has to do. Peeta can use his old friend to do more than just cut hair.
