Lies
Red x.x.x Green
Story by: CanalaveCoast
Lies. The world was full of them but was his friendship a lie?
Green gazed at the icy, stone wall behind his rival with a deep scowl etched across his usually calm, albeit slightly obnoxious but gentle features. The delicate visage he so deeply craved to look upon was at the moment obscured by the most hated object in Green's little world. A red and white cap, the brim of which was currently tipped down to cover Red's beautiful eyes, sat conceitedly mocking Green each and every time the Gym Leader most needed to see the champion's face. At the moment, Red was in one of his moods again; one of his I'm-never-going-to-lift-my-hat-again-because-you-hurt-me moods that his rival detested with a heated passion. That desperate loathing, brought about by the mere idea of ever having hurt Red, often made Green feel like the inner recesses of his soul were being dug out and darkened henceforth plotting the demise of the one and only relationship he so desperately clung to.
Red, though naturally phlegmatic, often complained that Green was immature but when all was said and done and it came down to the facts, Red wasn't quite as acquitted to the offense he so vocally accused of Green as he'd like to think. Red himself, though he would never admit it, was far more inclined to act like a child in private considering the obnoxious propensity to always hide his face behind the damn cap he always wore. Green, despite the blind, anxious rage building up inside of him, remembered clearly what had happened the last time his rival had hidden behind the hat and Green had lost his temper. The ensuing circumstances still floated visually in the late recess of his memory box hidden in the darkest corners of his subconscious; each time Green even so much as recalled the tiniest hint of the scene, a dark blush would dot his cheeks and he'd be rendered utterly immobile for at least five minutes at a time.
With a final, decisively resigned sigh, Green lifted a hand to Red's head in only a way he could get away with and brought it down pulling strongly enough to force his smaller companion to bend from the force of the tug as his head was brought to the Gym Leader's chest. A soft, less viscous growl escaped his lips as Green shoved his champion away two flashes later. A moment of silent understanding passed between them just as the first snowflakes of the evening began to dance.
