Takeo waited patiently, his attention down the scope. There had been a flurry of activity a few seconds before, so he knew –
There! He got a glimpse of his opponent's legs as they jumped clear and –
Takeo was headshotted.
"Ultra-kill!"
Takeo glanced away from his screen to glare at Tao, who grinned back at him.
"Stop hacking," he grumbled as he waited for the next round to begin.
"Heh. You can come over to check my screen if you think I am."
"Okay, let's go."
"Right." Takeo knew that Tao would be able to hack without making it obvious. "You can't have known I was there."
Tao shook his head, his grin still unmoving. "I know all the places that are good for sniping – it's easy once you know that."
Takeo frowned. Maybe he should switch to the Barettas the next round; but that would be the predictable choice for him.
"Anyway," Tao carried on, "I'm-"
"Humiliating defeat!"
"What?" Tao yelped, gaping at his screen.
Both Takeo and Tao turned to stare at M-21, who raised an eyebrow at them. "You were distracted."
Takeo laughed at Tao's dumbstruck expression and then prepared to get ready for the next round – he would be the one to kill Tao this time.
"Okay, let's go."
