Prologue

Alkya

[Alk-Ya]

It was a warm and sunny afternoon. Alkya was trying to sleep. "I don't want to sleep right now," I thought, "But if I don't the monsters will grab me and take me to an unknown place." Alkya fell asleep imagining what horrors her mom had to face when she disappeared.

She woke up around midnight and went hunting. The stars were shining through the canopy as she stalked around the forest. She was sniffing around to find deer when she caught a strange scent on the wind. She lifted her head and peered into the shadows. She saw a bush shake and stalked closer to it. All the sudden a wolf jumped out of the bushes. She stumbled backward and tripped on a rock. Her head slammed into a tree with a loud crack. The last thing she felt before going unconscious was the movement of ground underneath her.

Rayla

[Ray-La]

"Dad I'm not a kid anymore. Stop trying to get me to stay home. I need to go to college," Rayla said, trying to control her temper "Sweetheart I-," her dad started. "I'M NOT A SWEETHEART DAD," she shouted. She rushed outside, slamming the door closed behind her. She breathed in the plasma filled air that was radiating off the sun beneath her feet. She jumped into the air and spread her wings wide, dropping her backpack to the ground. As she hovered in the air she thought about the legend of earth. Huge blue skies, oceans as wide as the solar flares, and, most importantly, life. Humans, wolves, even some dragons, all living in "perfect harmony". With that thought, she took off in the direction of earth, life.

Oak

[Oak]

The hammering of his heart against his chest felt like the loudest sound in the world. He peeked out from behind the corner at the blood-filled battlefield. Ten dead, twenty left. He shrank back against the wall as someone glanced his direction. He looked down at his blood-stained talons. He heard footsteps and turned to be face to face with a wolf. The wolf slashed at him with sharp strange black claw gloves. He dropped down to the ground to not get hit. There was a strange white goo dripping off his gloves. One of the drops of goo fell directly into his eye. The wolf sliced his front leg, exposing bone. He shrieked as a searing pain shook his body, coming from his eye and his leg. He fell to the ground, shaking violently. He felt his wings crack as the wolf crushed them underneath his paws. Darkness started to creep into his vision, blurring out his attacker, who just stood there looking at him. The wolf then picked up a log and sent it smashing down into his head. He tried to scream, but nothing came out. It was like his mouth wasn't part of his body.
