The Best Christmas Present Albus Dumbledore Ever Received

Albus Dumbledore sat at his desk, presents in various colours and sizes surrounded him. He sighed as he surveyed the presents before shaking his head and looking up at Fawkes who had been watching him from his perch.

"No socks again this year I am afraid, Fawkes." Dumbledore waved his hand and the books that piled his desk floated through the room in search of empty spaces on the bookshelves that wall papered his entire office. He tutted as a book continuously hit itself against a full bookcase, attempting to find a spot, and stood to grab the book and place it properly on a shelf on another bookcase. "I have no more space for all these books."

Dumbledore sat down, only to turn moments later at an insistent tapping outside his office window. Curious as to who would be owling him this late an hour, he stood and fluidly made his way to the window and opened it. A white snowy owl cocked its head, a messily wrapped package in its beak. The owl hopped in and dropped the present in Dumbledore's hand, before going to Fawkes' perch and stealing a treat. The owl nibbled affectionately at Fawkes before flying back out the window.

"I wonder what this is, Fawkes." The phoenix merely stared at the old man, as if saying 'how should I know? Open it up and see!'.

A note was hastily written on a scrap bit of parchment at the bottom of the present. Taking the note off and squinted as he attempted to read the messy scrawl.

Happy Christmas, Professor.
I hope you enjoy the holidays.

He turned the note and saw no signature. Placing the note carefully to the side he turned to the wrapped present. Gently he opened the paper, and inside was two pairs of woolen socks. One with small books, the other with quills and parchment.

Smiled appreciatively at the gift, and shook his head fondly. With out a doubt, this was the best Christmas present he had ever received.
