She tore through the alley, ducked into a doorway, and tried to squeeze into nothingness. The cold hard steel of a knife cut into flesh beneath her red jacket. It was the worst thing to wear that night; it was nearly as bad as a bright flashing beacon screaming "Over here! I'm over here!" Actually it was worse, she didn't care though, it added to the thrill. Humans were so stupid; they seemed to get dumber each year. Ah there they are, she thought as the sound of scuffling feet and raised voices reached her expecting ears. Flashlights darted around shadows, as if scared to find what was lurking within them. The humans were frightened.
