Poem: Regret

Do you have any regrets? I wrote this poem because my family was trying to convince me to regret something that I don't honestly regret. Here's my advice on regret: Forget the past, but remember what it taught you!

Regret

We are always told not to regret,

But reminded not to forget,

For if we regret,

We stay in the sad past,

Reminded always of the mistakes we made.

But everyone makes mistakes,

So there is no need to regret,

But if we do not forget,

We may always regret,

What we did in the past,

No one can ever change it.

No one has ever told me it wasn't my fault,

No one has ever told me that I have been forgiven because I'm not.

Since I am not forgiven by my own family,

I am forced to live in regret,

In sadness that I am stuck,

But I know that I can't change the past,

Nor may you,

So why scorn me for my actions?

I take the responsibility,

So it was my fault,

Maybe it was my intention,

I don't regret the things I did that worried you,

Especially those that I enjoyed,

So stop telling it was it mistake,

That you're sorry for not stopping me,

I will not regret,

So stop regretting my actions for me!
