Mr Fitzwilliam Darcy was an extremely proud man. He was also a man who had made several life-changing mistakes due to this pride. The most recent mistake to occur was in his marriage to Miss Elizabeth Bennett. Although Mr Darcy was positive of his love for Elizabeth, he had come to the realisation that he should not be her husband. Their marriage was not romantic in the slightest, but they had a connection Darcy had not had with almost anyone else before. He and Elizabeth understood each other. A friendship is what Darcy wanted from Elizabeth. He had been so set on marrying her, misunderstanding the feelings he had, until the day he once again crossed paths with someone he thought he had forgotten. Someone whose face made Darcy's heart twinge. Someone whose eyes out-shone even the fine eyes of Elizabeth. Darcy knew he was a fool to think he could forget. Alas, he would be even more of a fool to think they could ever have had a future. So he had settled with marrying Elizabeth. He rejoiced at her humour and company and it was a great comfort to see her face every day. However, Darcy had never wanted to be intimate with her, which he often worried would upset her. He was optimistic that she would completely understand the situation, being such a compassionate woman, yet his pride stood in the way of him ever telling anyone. He appeared a completely held-together man on the outside, yet on the inside he was secretly an emotional disaster. He longed to hold the person he had always loved. The person who was visiting he and Elizabeth today. The person who was married to one of Elizabeth's many sisters. That person was Mr George Wickham.
