Inspired by a week of strange weather..

Spring. And then, the days noticeably changed, and it was Summer.

Summer ended her revelries, dancing away. Trailing her path were the leaves of Autumn.

She and her daughter were the most complicated.

Winter would come then, rushing in quietly, under her sister's sheets before Autumn had even woken up. There were bugs all over the floor, scurrying no matter what time it was. There was mist in the air, and there was always a body to body war. Autumn grabbed Winter's arms, pinning her down, muttering epithets and curses. Winter took it all in cooly, vaguely, apathetically. The words never worked. Gold and white hair would tangle together, mouths crushing against each other, caresses turning into scratches, kisses into bites. They would show up later, only on Autumn, frozen blue, a memory of the endless sestina. Winter always liked her best.

Her own small heat made Winter nervous, the two of them twining in an imitation of ecstasy, lips and fingers invading places they shouldn't, shouldn't, but did. The Robber Girl watched from her room, eyes wide. If Mother ever saw her, she made no notion, or perhaps didn't care. But Winter would shift her lustful gaze from Mother, and turn her pale pale icy eyes to the daughter briefly, no expression in their depths. Then soon enough, the pale woman would turn her attention back to Autumn. No, Gerda would never know how cruel, how cold, and how wonderful the Snow Queen really was. And far away, villagers marveled and wondered at the snowdrifts accompanying the falling leaves.

Such strange seasons these are..
