Author's Note: This is just a short dream story all about Major Sheppard with a little bit of Sheyla. I have decided to revise this story while I am waiting to get my computer back so that I can work on the sequel.

Disclaimer: I do not own any of the characters in this story except some from the Major's dream.

Prologue

The sun shone in through the stained glass windows of the Gate room, lighting up the room with warm colours. The ocean crashed against the sides of the floating city, it's soothing rhythm providing the many residents of the ancient city background music to their everyday lives.

The day was turning out to be another long, boring day for Dr. Elizabeth Weir. There was nothing but paperwork and all the people that she enjoyed talking to were either busy or off-world. That was saying something since she liked to talk to the majority of the people that were currently on the expedition. Their various experiments, projects and finding were a great joy to her. The expedition was currently in an uncharacteristic lull.

Despite that, she secretly wished that something interesting would happen that would take her boredom away and end the lull.

"UNSCHEDULED OFF-WORLD ACTIVATION!"

Dr. Weir stood from her desk and ran from her office to the control room to find Bates already standing over Chuck's shoulder, watching the IDC appear on the laptop that sat on the console.

"It's Lt. Ford's IDC," Chuck announced.

"Open the iris," Weir demanded, suddenly overcome with the sinking feeling that something was wrong.

The iris disappeared and barely seconds later, Teyla ran through. She looked up into the control room with fear and worry etched upon her face.

"We need a medical team! Major Sheppard is injured!" she shouted with panic, making her voice crack.

Dr. Weir touched the microphone that sat on her ear and said, "Medical team to the gate room!"

Weir watched as the Athosian woman quickly moved away from the front of the gate and waited, shifting from foot to foot, making the mere seconds that it took the rest of her team to come through the gate seem like minutes, hours even.

Lt. Ford and Dr. McKay walked through the gate pulling Major Sheppard along with his arms over their shoulders. He was definitely unconscious, making his immobile feet drag behind. Once they cleared the event horizon, they carefully lowered John to the ground and rolled him onto his back. Teyla rushed to the trio and quickly checked on Major Sheppard, like she had been doing it for a while.

A few moments later, Dr. Beckett's crew ran in, "What happened?" the Scottish doctor demanded.

"He was shot by something that looked like a Wraith stunner, but was different. He's not numb like the stunner," Aiden said as he backed up.

The medical staff pulled Teyla away from John's unconcious body and set to work of getting him on the stretcher while Dr. Beckett started checking his vitals. Once he was ready to be moved to the infirmary, the medical staff quickly wheeled him out of the gate room. Major Sheppard's team followed right behind them.

Elizabeth watched them all disappear around the corner. 'This wasn't the kind of interesting event I wanted today."

Once the hurried group got to the infirmary, they were all asked to wait outside of the infirmary by Beckett and the nurses until they've completely checked John over. So they waited.

Elizabeth soon joined the group, concern written all over her face, "What happened?"

The tired and worried trio looked at Elizabeth and then at each other. The events of the day reeling through their heads. Elizabeth nodded and then said, "Briefing room at 0900 tomorrow."

Dr. Weir looked in through the door and saw all of the medical staff working on John. There was no use in interrupting them while they were busy working on the Commanding Officer of the expedition. She turned to return to her office to start on what was going to turn into a long pile of paperwork.

The trio sat outside the infirmary for hours, listening to the medical work. Aiden leaned forward on his elbows and bounced his legs while Teyla stood, arms crossed and showing all of the discipline that Bantos fighting style has taught her. Rodney began to fall asleep in his chair, so Ford kicked the chair to wake the scientist up.

"Go to bed McKay. It won't do anyone any good if you get a kink in the back or the neck by falling asleep in the chair," Ford said, trying to lighten the mood, albeit wearily.

"But what about Sheppard? We don't know if he's alright yet!" Rodney protested, lack of sleep evident in his voice.

"He will be alright," Teyla said quietly, but confidently, finding the floor interesting.

"How do you know that?" Rodney shot back tiredly. Teyla's eyes flew up and met Rodney's tired ones.

"Because he will be! He is strong and he will be fine," Teyla said hotly.

Despite the heated conversation, Rodney yawned. Ford finally became fed up.

"Just go to bed. We'll let you know what's going on as soon as we find out something," Ford said.

Rodney yawned again and nodded before slowly getting up and walking down the hall to go to his room. Teyla sighed with defeat, rubbing her face and leaning back against the wall. Ford scratched his head before leaning back and trying to get comfortable in the chair he was sitting in.

After what seemed like hours, Dr. Beckett finally came out of the infirmary. He didn't have to walk far as Teyla and Ford suddenly received enough energy to run to him and demand answers.

"How is he?" Ford questioned.

"Can we see him now?" Teyla pressured.

Dr. Beckett held his hand up to silence them before speaking with his Scottish accent, "He is in a coma. We have checked for everythin' that could've caused it, but we can't find anything. He needs rest. I suggest coming in tomorrow to check on 'im."

Teyla and Aiden looked utterly defeated with Beckett's statement. They hesitated before they turned and started for Rodney's room to tell him, like they promised, before they would go to bed themselves. Teyla had stopped and looked back longingly at the closed door to the infirmary before following Aiden. Dr. Beckett caught Teyla's sad and longing look at the door before she disappeared from sight. Sighing, Dr. Beckett walked back into his office and got ready for a long night.
