None belongs to me—all Tolkien.

The Grey Havens

Your eyes turn to mine

In disbelief and confusion

You can't understand

Why I want to leave you

Bitter tears are running

Down your face like

Water down the ancient paths

Of the fading Exiles

You can't understand

Why I'm leaving you all alone

In this rekindled land

Where there is so much

I've saved our beloved Shire

But it's not for me

My hope lies in a place

That can heal my broken soul

You must stay here on this

Old and weary Hither Shore

You have so much to live for

And so much to see

But I have seen too much

And felt too much pain

The world is black before my eyes

And I yearn for the light

So I kiss your forehead slowly

And smooth away your tears

I smile sadly with pain in my eyes

And turn to face the light
