Ray quietly rolled out of bed so not to waken Millie. He though to himself he was lucky to have told Gail he was out on an overnight business trip. His Boss wouldn't be too happy to find out he was sleeping with his daughter either.
As Ray dressed he bumped into the nightstand and woke up Millie.
'Where are you going' Millie asked sleepedily.
'I have to be into work early this morning' said Ray 'now go back to sleep'.
Ry waent down to the lobby of the hotel and used the company credit card to pay for the room. No one pays attention to the bills so he felt he was safe in doing so. After he paid he quickly went to the car to stop off for breakfast before work.
At the same time that Ray was checking out of the hotel his phone rang at home awakening Gail.
'He was were and with who last night' screamed Gail into the phone. The veins were popping out of her forehead as her face turned as red as a tomato. Who does he think he is doing that to me she thought.
'Who is this I'm talking to' asked Gail.
'Just a friend' said the voice on the other end of the line and then hung up.
Gail called around all day trying to see if anyone saw Ray or about his mysterious overnight business trip. No one knew anything about the trip or where he was. She told them all not to tell him she called. Ray could be mean to his fellow workers and everyone liked Gail over him so they kept their mouths shut. They figured he had whatever it was coming to him.
Ray got to work and everyone was avoiding and not making eye contact with him. He wondered what happened but did his job as usual. He called Gail on his lunch break to see where she was.
'How was the trip' inquired Gail.
'Just the normal boring business stuff' Ray replied, 'nothing too exciting'.
'When will you be home?' asked Gail.
'Around five. We can go out for dinner tonight' said Ray
'No, I will make something special for you' Gail said.
After getting off the phone, Ray went back to work and finished up early so he thought he would give Millie a call to see if they could meet somewhere.
'I don't think we should' said Millie, 'I think my father is getting suspicious and we should cool things down for a little while'.
'Ok' said Ray disappointedly, 'Maybe next weekend sweetie'.
Ray stopped off and got flowers for Gail and then headed home.
Once at home he parked the car and headed into the house.
'Honey I'm home' yelled Ray.
Gail ran to him and gave him a big hug.
'I'm so glad you are home and thanks for the flowers!'
Ray turned to take off his coat when he felt a sharp blow to the back of his head. He was taken by surprise and did not make a sound as he fell to the floor. Gail jumped on his back and beat him repeatedly him with the claw end of the hammer until his head split open like a ripe melon.
Gail knew she had time to dispose of the body and clean up the mess since Ray did not make a sound. She spent most of the evening and half the night cleaning the blood off the walls and luckily she went shopping for a new carpet that afternoon so she burned the old one and replaced it with the new one.
After all was done she sat down for a midnight snack. As she took her first bite she said 'Ray you've never been so good'.
