Just a short little story I'm doing for fun.

Moana watched as the bright sparks lit up the stormy night. A thunderous boom accompanied it. They'd recently found a comfortable island which they'd settled into nicely.
Maui was supposed to come visit in the next day or so. She could guess this wasn't him. And she was right.
The storm suddenly stopped, and someone appeared on the beach. Oddly enough, the sun had come out. She grabbed her trusty oar and ran outside. A teenage boy stood on the beach in a heroic pose.
"Who are you?" She demanded.
"One second," he said, and finished striking his pose. "Done. What was the question?"
"Who are you?" She asked firmly. She noticed the giant lightning bolt tattoo that was on his chest.
"Oh! Well, you might want to take a seat, this could take a while," he chuckled. She stared at him blankly.
"I am Kanoa! Demigod of Lightning! Armies tremble before me! Warriors quake in my presence!-"
"I get it," she interrupted. "Why are you here?"
"Well, you know, I go here and there," he said casually. But caught a better glance at Moana.
"But, something here might make me stay," he said coolly. She brushed a strand of her hair away embarrassedly.
"Look, I don't know who you think you are . . ." She began, but he walked away.
"So sorry, you were saying?" He came back with his hands behind his back.
"What's that?" She asked. He opened the clam, and showed her the glossy pearl inside.
"This shrivels in comparison to your beauty." He grinned charismatically. Nailed it! He thought coolly.
"Still giving lame gifts to people?" A voice asked as Maui, demigod of the wind and sea, walked up.
"Maui. Still getting beat by Te Ka?" He shot back. Moana had a shocked expression, as Maui mumbled under his breath. He turned his attention back to Moana.
"Moana, would you do me the honors of meeting me here tonight?" Kanoa asked pleasantly. Maui shook his head, but Moana didn't see.
"O-ok."

A lightning spark bolted across the sky, as Moana watched in awe. It was a light show in the clouds, all controlled by Kanoa. She tried convincing herself that she wasn't being won over by some lightning, but it was hard. They'd been spending some time together that day, and it was kind of like they had an instant connection. They both left their parents to venture out on their own.
"Moana," he turned his intense gaze to her "despite what Maui says about me, I want you to know, that I do care for you."
"I, uh, thanks. I-I mean . . . I do too," she fumbled, but finally said.
"Moana!" Came a loud whisper.
"You're really bad at whispering," Kanoa pointed out to Maui.
"I need to talk to her."
"About me?" He asked dryly.
"No . . ."
Maui pulled her to the side, and they argued in a hush voice. Kanoa sighed and slipped away. He made his way over to a small hut. He gazed up at the stars, before entering swiftly.
"Now . . . what I'm here for," he stared at the magical fishhook.
