Chapter 3
(this is a continuation of the original story, I apologize if the characters are a little OOC)
Relan smiled in his sleep. It was rare for the young adult to fall asleep in the presence of anyone but himself. Lying next to him was the blonde beauty Link. Though you couldn't tell from the clothes he wore, Link was royalty. His new boyfriend, Relan, was also royalty. Both young adults had been severely stressed as of late because of the tattle tale Zelda telling Relan's father King Osirus about the two of them. It hadn't helped the situation that Relan's father had begun to shun the two nobles as of a week ago. Link smiled, guilt plaguing his stomach. He felt as though he had caused such dispute between father and son, even though it had been bound to happen soon rather than later. The poor confused blonde had been hoping for the later part.
"Hmn? Link?" Relan's warm voice snapped the sour face off of the former hero's face. "How long have I been asleep for?" Relan smiled, and noted the shorter man had stayed to snuggle up with him as he slept off the stress.
"Not too long I supposeā¦" Link smiled grateful for the dark of the setting sun to hide his blushing face. "You needed it, we both do."
"Ah." Relan smiled knowingly "Worrying again are you? I said before, I will protect us. Don't give me that look either, I meant emotionally." He paused "Wow that really sounded like a school girl." Link laughed, his smile now reaching his eyes. They both sat up, Link slipping off Relan's chest. Relan noted the garden's look in the dark that surrounded them. "The time for twilight." Relan said. "When darkness falls, twilight will reign and protect us at night, as the Goddesses do during the day with their light." He seemed a little distant.
"Poetic." Link commented. Relan shook his head and smiled
"Just a thought." He held a hand for the blonde so he could stand fully. Link took it and stood, happy to stretch his muscles out. The two walked back to Link's bedroom, hands folded into each other's at their sides. The warm peace called for them, as both enjoyed the silent around them. A smile graced both their lips a moment. Only a moment, however, as it did not reach their eyes. A sad understanding came to them as Link released Relan's hands. A decision would be made tomorrow. Link was supposed to marry a Princess from a kingdom he did not know. Unless he would announce his engagement to Relan. Green eyes met warm blue for a brief moment,
"Relan." Link sighed
"It's alright. I will be there. I will sit next to you, and I will not be upset or mad if you decide to take her hand, for I alone know it will not be a true love. Your true love lingers with me." He finalized. Link smiled at the truth in his words. The blonde nodded, and retired to his room. Sighing and falling against the door as it closed. He waited to hear the retreating footsteps finally fade before he shrank to his bed. Link didn't bother changing. His dreams were filled with night terrors and bad scenarios. Any choice he made would result in a dispute somewhere. Every choice would be the wrong one.
Link sighed again, it was now almost two in the morning. He gave up sleep, knowing it would not help any. He resolved for lying, his closed eyes mentally tracing Relan's face, Not quite memorized, he mused to himself before falling into a deep un-restful sleep.
