Elena and Caroline have been dating since their schools annual decade dance where Caroline finally found the courage to ask Elena out.
That was three months ago. For the most part, their relationship wasn't a secret. Except when it came to Elena's parents. Of course people at school knew and their group of friends, really anyone who has eyes could tell there was something between them. They were always kissing and holding hands. But, the two have always been close. They're best friends. That's the excuse that Elena told her Mother and Father whenever they questioned her about the blonde.
Elena's parents are very conservative and strict with their rules. They have their suspicions about their daughters relationship with Caroline.
Just last month they stopped allowing Caroline to come over for sleepovers and Elena found herself at the other end of a long lecture because they cuddle too close and she doesn't want Elena to think that girls liking other girls is okay. Elena just nodded her head and pretended to listen to the same homophobic bullshit that was coming out of her Moms mouth.
Elena's parents grew more suspicious each day, but that didn't stop the two from seeing one another. It just meant Elena didn't come home much. Except to sleep, of course. Her parents would riot if she didn't return home and they discovered that she had disobeyed them and spent the night with Caroline.
Everything was fine before today. Everything was fine before her Mom found the box. The box that Elena keeps hidden under her bed.
